hi...
I recently started using my Virus again with cubase after a period of only software.... cos I worked out how to use the 'monitor' thing so that I could preview VST plugin effects on the virus in realtime (hoorah!!)
But now i have a new problem : When I record my phrase into the audio track, then open the editor for the resulting audio track, I see a small delay before the first note.
'No problem!' I thought - 'it's just a latency issue!' so I deleted the silence, and expected everything to be ok. But the problem is that all the subsequent notes are off by a very small amount (a few ms). Some are ahead of time, some behind time. So it is not sensible to fix by adding/deleting silence....
It is like there is some _variable_ latency....
I am using my M-Audio delta 66's ASIO drivers with cubase....
I am not sure if it is a MIDI sync problem where the Virus notes are not triggering at the correct time, or a recording problem where I have set up my sound card incorrectly..... I am not really sure how to go about diagnosing/fixing the problem at all.....
any help would be extremely welcome!!
grrr you dont get these issues with software synths! but then again there is not (yet) a software Virus..... hehe

thanks for the reply yuli... now you've told me it is a bug I looked it up on Google and sure enough there seem to be a lot of exasperated people and puzzled Steinberg employees....
it seems to be a Windows issue - Cakewalk have provided a workaround for Sonar, but Cubase seems to be still not working.
It's funny... you would have thought sending MIDI data at the correct time was a core requirement of a MIDI sequencer..... maybe it'll be fixed in Cubase SX 2.0.
How do people work around the problem?
