Interesting about the wav file and mp3 being no different, might look into that.

Well, nobody said that there is no difference between the files. Only that it isn*t easy to HEAR the difference between a wav and a HQ-mp3. And I agree. Human perception is pretty inaccurate and biased. The difference between mp3 and wav might be apparent on a big system, but under normal listening conditions the average listener won*t hear the difference.

I think "quality" is something different ... There is no more or less quality. There is different quality.           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

About that test on people who couldn't make a difference about 44.1/16 and and 192/24.

Were they listening to music with earphone?

Or high quality speakers, cause im pretty sure a ear well trained could see some difference between them.

Aliasing do interact with frequencies that is hearable by human ear.           My music http://soundcloud.com/disrupted

Sorry but any serious DJ would notice mp3 / wav difference.

Big system (PA), Nice monitors, Nice hedfons...

Perhaps your average listener will not notice the difference in quality but would know something is better when WAV or 24bit Live is being played.

This is one of the reasons why big names on parties sound much better than your next block local djs and amateurs. Makes you come out from your tent and say "who the fck is playing now?"

Aciduss, make yourself a HQ mp3 out of a FLAC or Wav file. Do a bunch of blind tests.

I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt you will be able to tell the difference.

I'm actually going to do a test on saturday on a big system with a couple people when we set up for our event...I'm interested to see the results..I predict no one will be able to tell the difference from MP3 / Wav

I would wager that the reason people have such a reaction to big names' productions is not that they're using Wav files or MP3s...but that they are amazing producers...

I have several CDs both in wav and in mp3 and i know the difference between them. I used to dj with wav only... mixing a wav track to an mp3 has that lowdrive effect, you switch the low band knobs and the mp3 bass is weaker.

Why do you think mp3 is cheaper at beatport?
