something i would have wanted to say ! come on guys , is it necessary that a person who knows 7-8 outboard fx units will necessarily do good mastering ? or is it the knowledge , technique and skill ?

bro - really, if i want to learn from u , atleast u shud be having experience in the field , in the sense, i wud really need to hear a cd which u have mastered..
thats all i ask!!
& honestly, i think this is a good move, cause i havent come across any mastering guys from indian artists base.. i guess LA does, but thats abt it ..

Dude.. If u dont have a mastering setup then i think ur all balls.. A whole bunch of us went to sound school n for fukkin sure we also have the "knowledge". But wats the point if u dont have a setup or any experience in mastering.
And if its just bookish knowledge ur imparting then i think ur in the wrong gig..
Quit trying to make a fast buck n get urself some experience.

and mastering being a process that a huge majority of established acts themselves prefer to outsource to a third party , what makes u think your average punter would be interested learning ?

I dont really see how having gear like ssl compressors, or limiters, eqs etc would make any difference to people who want to learn this ,because the techniques and interfaces are similar in either hardware or software,While there would be alot of difference in the final output. Software would definetly be the better option to teach this since they are relatively cheap and moreover if the learner doesnt have hardware gear then its probably gonna be waste of time. Its like teaching someone to play Piano when the learner doesnt have one to practice. Nowdays there are alot of people even some well known Artists who do so called "Mastering" by just slapping on some Waves plugins , Ozone etc and BAM its Mastered by Mr Jack SAW but the worse thing is that none of their Plugins are Legit ,all warez stuff, not cool to make money out of something you illegaly have, Waves Mercury Bundle for example costs a Whopping 6000$. In my oppinion if he is going to charge you for this Course make sure that the stuff he is using is legitimate if its not then that kinda cheating unless he got a hardware rig then i think you are paying for legit skills.
While there are alot of people who do "so called mastering" there are only a few who are really good at this
1. Xenomorph
2. Drix
3. Chromatone ( Dont know if he does anymore?)
4. Tim Schuldt
Buy original cds and feel the difference of the quality between the swamp of wannabes and the cream of the crop in this scene.
