try toshiba satalites, they go for pretty cheap on eBay and are pretty powerful for the price.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

A nice completly pumped Fujitsu works well.I have a Fujitsu N3010 2.8 GHZ p4 and 2 gigs of ram,and a NEW Alienware M-7700 with 2 hard drives a 3.6GHZ P4 and 2 gigs of ram in that one as well.And that thing screams like nothing else.But you could go Mac G4 and have to buy all mac software and run the Emulator fo OSX wich Is a personal preference ..My Rack how ever is as this .Apogee Big Ben Time clock
Motu 896 HD ,Motu midi express XT
TC Eletronics M0oneXL and a MD 2 tap delay.I run it all thru a mackie Analouge mixer and use a Logic Control surface.WIth a Nordlead 2 and a Virus Classic for my Synths,ANd a Goden xt Guitar with pezeeo MiDi pick ups on the bridge.....

thanks guys , will try those.

Also from what ive researched so far , the recommended processor seems to be the centrino over the P4 chip. Is that right?

Also is 1gb RAM enough, or 2Gb is what one should get?

thanks!

the most you can afford. 1 gig should do it though.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

Get an audio costumised Laptop.
Centrino or P4 both work great. The centrino is lighter and the battery goes much longer.
The P4 is more powerful ( right now) I think 3.6Ghz
and is cheaper.

A 2.1GHz Centrino is (apparently) roughly comparable to a 4.2GHz P4.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Should be good enough for practically anything i can think of. Including real time solitaire emulation.
