I need some help chopping or slicing audio in cubase sx3 (loops) What is the best/simpler way to divide/cut loops in small pieces, lets say like in Recycle??. This probably is something that comes in documentation but i really suck at this reading manuals . I try using the scissor tool but i cant seem to cut small enough pieces so i can take apart loops on individual hits. Anyone help me out? please?
pd. a keyboard shortcut would be nice too .. hehe damn laziness..

there are a few ways. you could zoom in larger and just cut it manually. jsut make sure to cut it on the zero cross point of the wave to aviod clicks. and make sure to put the pieces on quantize after your done chopping and slicing.
you could also use the hit points.
use "calculate hitpoints" than use the "create audio slices from hitpoints " option. these are located at the audio menu.

If you want to cut all in equal parts, press "Ctrl" when using the scissors tool and it will chop the whole thing in parts of equal size to the part you left on the left of the scissors.
Select all and in the transport bar set fade in and fade out to something like 0.0.0.1 just to avoid the clips.
Not the same thing as in recycle, no possible time changes etc, it depends what you want it for.

hey thanks men.

im trying the hitpoint , see if that works , hopefully is the more "auto" way of doing it that im looking 4.
also its kinda frustating that when using "snap" i can only put the sample at the beggining of the downbeat or bar, is there a way to change this?? i hope i explained myself.
by the way i dont wanna make time changes , just make variations on the loops.

Setting the snap type to Grid and changing the quantise value will allow you to snap to different beat divisions. I haven't used it in SX3 yet but in SX2 the hitpoint method was really inaccurate. Out of interest, why don't you want to use ReCycle?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Then something is wrong... it sounds like you aren't changing the quantize setting small enough.

I would guess your quantize is set at 16 or higher. For precise editing it should be down to 64. Like Vipal said, you can just turn off "snap", but you're going to need to turn it back on to rearrange the cut pieces, and when you do... you need to have the quantize setting done properly.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

hey thanx again, now i got the hang of it...
as u said i wasnt setting the quantize setting properly. ill be using the hitpoint option from now on , it seems to me quite usable , maybe not 100% accurate but for me it does the job. ill check out recycle , maybe a lil old school but probably is better.
