So Logic has an interesting function, in which it analyzes an audio file for pitch & note characteristics and approximates it into a MIDI file...

Anybody know if Cubase SX can do this?           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

Nothin'? Nobody? Does anyone even know what I'm referring to, as far as that Logic function? I didn't know it existed for a long time....           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

colin spoke once of a cubase function that does this to some extent...           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Yes, I think we've all accepted at this point that if you type something along the lines of

"Hey, does anyone know if Cubase can ***?"

what we're really saying is

"Colin, what's the proper way to do this? Thanks mate"

I went to a hard disc recording seminar 10 years ago that showed a version of Pro Tools doing that. The guy turned a vocal track into a midi file, then quantised it and moved some notes around, turned it back into wav and viola! The singer was in perfect time and pitch.

10 years ago. On an IBM thinkpad.
