guys i have decided, that somewhere in the future i'll buy an audio card. i need it to be able to multitrack recording of 3 mono [or 1 stereo+mono] maximum.i want it to give me good quality sound. and i want it to be as cheap as possible :-) these are the cards i've found worth comparing:
Aardvark's Aark systems Echo's Layla/Mia etc. [the 24 series] M-Audio's Delta1010 Hoontech's Soundtrack Audio DSP24 series
let's say: i think the last 1 best fits my needs. and is the cheapest, but i would like to know if there's many users of these cards, and their feedback.
is this gonna be another boring thread ?

Hey man,
The Delta 1010 and Layla have almost the same spesifications and outs/in, only the Layla24 has midi in/out/thru.
Never used the hoontech card, but according to the specification, it has only 2 audio in, isn't it?
I think you should go for the Layla or Delta (delta if you have a midi interface), even though they're pretty costly. The Mia has many features and is very cheap indeed (under 250$), but alas, it has only 2 audio in.
P.S: Why boring? explain please.
Tom.

sometimes these threads end up with 10 posts from 5 guys who have the same card ... and each is more excited about his card than the other ... it can be boring... cause there's no comparison.

You can have the Delta 66 too. It has 4 in 4 out plus 2 digital ins and outs. Same quality like the Delta 1010, but cheaper. Comparing the Layla to the Mia is like comparing SB Live Platinum to Vibra 16... It's another class!

Michael, i think the difference between Mia and Layla isn't that grand. Check the specs:
http://www.echoaudio.com/compare.htm
The Layla has a wider dynamic range (by 4 db only, assuming the described dynamic of the Mia is it's input dynamic range) and they both have the same DA and AD converters, which assures great quality from both cards. Of course, the Layla is better than the Mia, but the difference is not that significant.
Hope i haven't bored anyone, Tom. |
