hi exotic..

i have been tryin to wrk with reason n cubase since past 5-6 months, but havent really got the hang of it as of now, infact i am gettin tired of trial n error, as theres no one to show me around..

maybe if u wrk with somebody whos knows how to wrk with softwares, it would be much better,
so i have decided to do a course in uk on electronic music production, which would help me alot..

courses arent necessary imo. read the manual and everything will become tight as.           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

maybe start with fruity loops

easy, simple, direct ( to get the basis )

then move to another software if you feel the need to...

Not everybody can do that. Some manuals are too technical for newbies, some are just written bad. Formal training isn't a bad thing, even if you know a lot about music, you can alaways learn somthing new.

I think Acid and Live are quite easy to approach. You can easly figure out by yourself or going truh the help section.
Or you can still post ya questions here in the forum :-D

I wouldnt reccomand FL if ya intention is to move on with a program such as Logic or Cubase in the future.

If u have the chance (and the cash ;-) to go under formal training and u serious about music, go for it man,it is not a waste of time at all.

If you have the patience, and the time, it will eventually come together. Biggest thing is to want to do something significant right off the bat but is just not possible (most cases). The learning curve is very steep for these softwares. I think pick one, try to learn it somewhat well before buying another. Or else you could end up with some expensive video games that don't make a lot of music.

I use Cubase SX3, which seems to have the most published help books, frequent coverage in Digital Music Maker and other magazines as tutorials, user groups, college courses, forums, and on and on. Reason may be better (easier) to learn if your goal is to start tracking your musical ideas right away. Depends on what you are trying to accomplish.....

I started with trial and error then had the chance to undergo formal training. It has sound engineering (SAE) which has been good for theory.
Honestly i think the best way is hands on the program u choose to learn.

Acid is quite intuitive and simple to approach.I still use it to put down ideas quickly. It has most of the features of more advanced sequencing tools such as cubase, logic and protools.
I know few people who release stuff done with Acid.
I personally dont like cubase much (that was one of the main application at SAE 8 years ago),but it is not inferior to any other same-level sequencing tool (such as Logic).
I use Logic most part of the times when producing (after i layered down few ideas with Acid).
It has few obstacle in the learning process which u may not find in Cubase (enviroments).

Protools is my choice when doing the final mix,it is just amazing and trurly superior when its about manipulating audio tracks, anybody who have been using it can tell the same.
It hasnt been great for midi so far (getting much better) so it may not suit your needs.

If u planning to do some live set,LIVE from ABleton is good (im using it for live sessions),worth having a go even if i dont particulary love to write tracks with it.

I think the biggest obstacle in choosing a sequencing tool is the graphic layout. As i said before, even if i have been using Cubase at school,i never really liked the interface, but hey,u may like feel comfy with it.

Conclusion:
Being ya first sequencing program id go for ACID.U can easly learn the basic\intermediate features in no time and then move on to another sequencing application if needed with no big hassle, but u may well stick with it for long time.

Lemme know.

Peace
