I think Atriohm is "showing" the way for the directions of night/dark psy.Very psychedelic,no disturbing horror samples or attempt to be scary or create some kind of "bad" vibe. This is music which perhaps some label as dark but i dont see that it is dark just because it has a low octave bass ,fast bpm and uses very psychedelic sounds.I view this as a total different thing then many other producers being "boxed in the same map".

This music feels mature,it is intelligent and deep.It feels "true",no posing or trying to be scary or dark or whatever, just mind travel and very , very psychedelic although it is a wild and intense powerful travel.

If my memory is correct there was a voting here on isratrance last year when one could vore for the best cd for the year and i think that "Atriohm-Ukalen" got most votes. This shows that truly psychedelic music gets attention and is recognised.

I hope to hear more like this in the twilight branch of the psytrance tree.No fooling around trying to be bad and scary , just very deep, mysterious, true, hypnotic and psychedelic.

The ambient tracks i have heard with Atriohm was really good to.Very deep and magnetic.I have read that they have split up now and one is continuing with Atriohm and the other one of the two brothers is doing ambient music (Tengri).Extremely talanted musicians, creating very deep music.Looking forward to hear more from them.

Indeed! Ukalen is definitely one of the best psy albums ever imo. High quality and highly intense psytrance. As you said, very hard to label as 'darkpsy' as people may like to call. Very few people makin stuff like this.

Unfortunately the project has split, with one of the brothers goin in the chill direction (which is also awesome!).... but the other is still continuing!

hope to hear more soon....!

Which one? Or you mean one of the Atriohm brothers?

From Atriohm`s myspace.

"In the start of 2010 Leonid decided to focus on a Chill Out project, so Aleksandar will keep alive the Atriohm sound alone."

still too fast

it's not really a matter of opinion either... unless you are REALLY in shape, you cannot dance to music that fast (and by dance I mean really DANCE, not just sway back and forth or shuffle a little) for very long without losing your breath.

This is why you always see people swaying like zombies when this music is playing. It is too fast to dance to.

yeah man, youre absolutely right. Ive been on an Atriohm live act this weekend and although I really like Ukalen album, the party was terrible. It way too fast and very very monotonous. I really tried to dance but couldnt. And I wasnt on bad drugs cus everybody just stared at his toooo long live act. and the party was in forest so the ambience was great but music was just too extreme and it gets really boring, no groove, no fun, no twists jut plain laser sounds with boring basslines without any interesting percussions. and dont get me wrong I enjoy in dark psy music otherwise.

I am interested to hear the ultra-psychedelic shift downward to 140 BPM or below. More space to get lost in down there.

This is nowhere close to the machine-gun "psycore". What seems to be the problem here?

Agree with Fometrius: this kind of darkpsy is more tasteful, thoughtful and (IMHO) psychedelic than what often passes for darkpsy nowadays. I also imagine this sub-sub-genre is closer to what Zolod would produce today. Darkpsy, the way it was meant to be.

About the boring, monotonous, atonal, exhausting etc. impression: it’s more about the dosage. Drink a gallon of the best wine with 5 kg of the finest cheese – and you’ll puke just as far as you would after eating rat burgers with rubbing alcohol. As much as I like this music, I wouldn’t expose myself to more than 30-40 minutes of it at a time. Just know your limits and go for a walk when you reach them. How difficult can that be?

nailed!

I don't find this too fast.... also Encephalopaticys..... 2 weeks back i was at Ence gig..... he made me dance like mad.... after a long time my body was cramped after so much intense dancing..... mind you not Zombie style dancing....

PS: Ultra fast stuff is Zombie style.... at a festival i slept on Kashyyyk set (he was one of the reasons for me to go to this fest) on the floor cos of ultra fast zombie style music, good sounds though by Kashyyyk!

the atmospheres are really nice, although music wise, nothing is happening. it would be nice for warming up a trance party, but its too fast. Not bad at all though, it does not get silly and does not have kindergarden textures and the walls of noise/glitch that are abundant in the so called "darkpsy" sub genre. If it had some logic bomb style leads cripping in, or any kind of ripping lead riffs, this would have been a lot better.
Hopefully the new tunes will pick up cause, for me, this monotonous, grooveless style and especially single note bassline pattern, gets boring very quickly.
On the plus side, it does get deep and the production is head and shoulders above anything else I have heard in this style.
