Atmos And Echo-Lab- Overlap (Flying Rhino, 2001)
1. Echo-Lab- Old Painless 8:36
2. Atmos- Three Orange Lights 7:56
3. Atmos- Mark.13 8:26
4. Atmos- Random Landlord 8:19
5. Atmos- Mental Luggage 9:25
6. Echo-Lab- Lobsterfunk 6:52
7. Atmos- Klein Aber Doctor 9:25
8. Atmos- Always In Control (Red Seal Mix) 4:40

Well, Flying Rhino teams up with Atmos for a second album- or is it really? The name says Atmos and Echo-Lab, but there are only 2 Echo-Lab (Atmos & a friend) tracks. We can also find here an old hit, two chilled tracks, another released one, and a dubby mix- sounds a bit like a filler? Sounds like a collection of leftover tracks? Well, yes- that's how it sounds music-wise as well (which is what really counts). Meaning, there are some very good tracks here, and it's nice to listen to, as always the airy Atmos sound is here, making it a great background and chillout music, it has the powerful ATMOSphere that he always generates, and there are some party hits- but it's not an album. The least both Flying Rhino and Atmos should have done- is say just what this is- because I think quite a lot of people got this under the wrong impression.
Old Painless is a slow airy tune with a clubby feel, real moving sounds, especially at the end- straight to the heart. Three Orange lights (T2) that follows is a real chilled one, slow ambientish feel, and a strong spacey atmosphere. I like. Mark. 13 (T3) goes to darker more experimental realms, still low BPMs- well- it doesn't work for me- I can easily think of few groups that do it better. Random Landlord (T4) goes into the more dancey area, higher BPMs, a lot of percussion work, a lot of scratchy sounds, and a strong drive- but far from what we all know this guy can do on the dancefloor. Mental Luggage didn't grab me on The Abyss (MDMA), but here it turns out to be the party hit of the CD- powerful atmosphere and great layering- good dancefloor material for dark hours. Lobsterfunk (T6) has some funky touches- but just doesn't carry the weight and doesn't pull it- very confused track. Klein Aber Doctor (T7) is a great track and one of the vinyls played most here at my house when it came out- it's great, I love it, it survived the time- but why is it here, really? And if it is, why not before Lobsterfunk? Weird. Ending is Always in Control in a dubby mix- nice and fun ending, but I like a lot more from my dub.

Bottom Line: recommended for the hours after a long partying weekend. Not really a new Atmos album (I hope). Favorites: 1, 2, 5, 7.
