Nutopia - Friday Sept. 02, 2005

Hopefully a first of many for the Atlanta area...

Location:
All American Skating Center
5400 Bermuda Rd
Stone Mountain, GA 30087
(Only 15mins outside of the perimeter!!!)

More Info: tribes.tribe.net/atlantapsytrance

What:
A foot stomping, heart pounding psychedelic time out for that overworked soul.

When: 11:30pm - 7:30am+

Who: DJ MOKSA

DJ Moksa, based out of Atlanta GA, spins an eclectic mix of psychedelic trance. With incredible beats, he entices his audiences onto the dance floor. After first buying turntables in `98, Moksa experimented with many different styles of EDM. In the beginning, he experimented with breakbeats and jungle. Later he began to spin progressive trance. It wasn't until he heard DJ Brian's Hard Desert Trance series, that
Moksa truly understood where he wanted to direct his passion and time. Since 2000, he has embraced the Goa spirit by expanding his library of earth-vibrating tracks. Moksa's intimate knowledge of the powerful Psychedelic Trance style, and his appreciation of a seamless mix, contributes to his grassroots effort to spread love and energy to his fans. Moksa has a phenomenal style that matured through a passion to move the spirit of his listeners.

MICHAEL CURRAN

A dj of over 9 years, Michael originally started djing in and around the Atlanta area in the mid 90's and has played a variety of electronic music genres (London Hardcore, Drum & Bass, Industrial, Acid Techno, Progressive House, etc.). Michael began to move from more club-oriented progressive house/trance sounds towards the goa/psytrance end of the trance spectrum after having been exposed to the releases of labels such as Platypus, Transient, 21-3, and Blue Room Released towards the late 90's, and soon made the transition to a mostly all-psy format. In September of 2000, Michael perfomed for the first time in Asheville NC at Touch Samadhi's `Return' event at Club Mix, marking the first of many indoor & outdoor appearances over the course of the last few years. Since then, he has managed to build a reputation for eclectic well-programmed mixes that span the range from light to dark, and from the hard-edged to the funky.

DJ IIKAH

"...Iikah, half the orange of Citrus Alchemy, displays incredible sense of independence in his hypnotic ode filled with tribal elves and disaster. 2 out of 3 psychonauts swear Iikah changed their lives by exorcising the conservative in them. Virtually unknown, he is now guaranteed to be heard wherever a soundtrack is needed for late-night cosmic traveling pleasure. Prepare yourself for a glimpse overboard…'”

PUSKARA, eschatone, ATL

Rocking only the freshest hottest tracks for about 3 years, waiting patiently for a receptive audience to unleash his fury upon. one of Atlanta's own secret weapons is ready to be let loose on any and all unsuspecting trancers foolish enough to wander onto the floor unaware. having been brought into the light by none other than the father of trance - goa gil; puskara holds himself to a higher standard of musical quality and composition in his track selection resulting in a fuller punchier set. let the music speak for itself...

Suggested donation of $10 to help cover costs and keep this going!

jason (puskara) is a great up-and-comer, who will probably impress a few folks when he plays.
i haven't had a chance to hear iikah yet, but it sounds like he has put a lot of time and energy into his music.

that michael curran though, what a freakin' wanker.          michael

thanks gail! yeah we knew we were gonna have to conted with the "burning man absence," but at least this gives others a great alternative at least for one night! Hopefully this is only the first of many to come from Atlanta's growing family. Have a great time at BM and thanks for your supportive words.

With humble beginnings, we have embarked!
Thank you all of you that came out to support us. Thank you those of you that brought a friend or two. So yes it looked small, but 75 heads to fill a space the size of 3 warehouses and that's what you're gonna get....Small. For a first night of more to come though, that size is fantabulous and furthers my belief for Atlanta's thirst. Just don't forget that it takes your help. Your artwork, your sound skills, your organization skills, your word-of-mouth/friend network advertising skills, your crazy cool unique dancing style....most of all and most importantly...your beautiful smiles in attendance. These parties aren't prepackaged/all for profit events. These are labors of love. Your love, my love, and most importantly the love of these fine people:

Thanks so much Michael for your beautiful set I'm still spinning right round baby, right round like a record :^P I'm sorry the circumstances couldn't allow you to stay longer, but things will be what they be, eh?

Thanks so much Jordan for taking it deep and dark on the dancefloor. It was great to be able to pound my fist and only had to drive 20mins (Doof Local.....thousands of miles fresher, right TS

Iikah, your tribal set is still uplifting me. Seriously you gave me a renewed respect for the good times and smiles that the tribal music offers you....you took it back in deed! Your dedication to drive all the way from Alabama was tru example of your dedication to this genre. Thanks for sharing your magic with all of us.

Jason man......you were killing it!!! At ease soldiers?!! That set was anything but at ease. That dark crunchy ooey gooey goodness has a special place in my heart. Thank you from the bottom of my now psyfried heart!

All of you: My only regret was not being able to be on the dancefloor more consistently for all of you!

Alex: There aren't enough thanks an audiophile with a dream can give you for providing your sick ass sound for us. I'm glad I got to meet you and will be looking forward to doing this again sometime.

Richie you were sorely missed by many 8^( A bunch of us kept our eyes out for you. I did get to say goodbye to your friends from Macon. I wish things could of worked out better for your situation though, it would of been great to give you my thank you hug in person. The artwork you did for our flyer was one of the slickest pieces of art the EDM community has seen in awhile.

To you Brazilians (So many of you beautiful people there) - so no it's not Brazil with thousands of trancers inside (united states can't even fart out a dream of a party of Brazilian magnitude at this time), but for GA....where else you gonna go to get your psytrance needs. If you keep helping us grow though...who knows perhaps one day we will be able to throwdown like that. Either way, thank you so much for showing up and contributing your energy to "OUR" party. I hope you at least had fun. and if you are reading this don't forget to find and join the Touch Samadhi tribe for your deliciously psychedelic needs as well. They will make every 3 hour commute up to Asheville worth every minute of the drive guaranteed!

Abhi great seeing you again man! thanks for coming out.

Everyone else that I may have forgotten or did not have the chance to meet, thanks for making this event.

Humble beginnings they may be, but I think I see a fire catching from the spark that was created last night. ALL OF YOU -- don't forget to keep on blowing your creative breath on it to keep the flame from dying out. ALL OF US ARE RESPONSIBLE in nurturing this flames growth.

In divine friendship,
Melissa and Jason (Pink and Blue)

first, sorry i couldnt make it jordan, due to our recent petro prob i had to cancel my whole trip to ATL, Im very glad to hear things went well, I really feel that people in Atlanta have a desire for something a little more than the regular club nights that take place, there are millions of people in ATL, if we can get the word to them im sure we can muster up enough for quit a nice scene, and Its good to see you guys got the word to the Brazilian crowd, here in Greenville we havent thrown a party for an american crowd in 2 years with everyone being from Colombia, Brazil and Veny. and the parties have had an awesome energy everytime, I hope they will make it to the POW WOW. keep up your efforts and let me know If I can help with anything. Peace
