i didnt say anything about conne, so for that you can ask your friend absolut who mention it
i dont think you need conne to realise that in athens there are many bar/clubs and not only who playing that kind of music
also i want to tell you that you maybe write at your posts expressions like "who cares?" or laughs but you dont seem so cool to me since you are trying to prove in all your posts that your city is the best and you dont listen anything else compare other people including me who find good things in both cities |

Toti on last years September there were around 1200-1300 people on the event with Dino Psaras and Talamasca, after that most of the big events have an average of 700-800 people.

Toti just out of curiosity what is the average attendance in thesaloniki events?I mean you speak like there are 1000 people in every event up there.
By the way since you asked about places that play tech house and progressive music i will name you just two of them,Fuzz and Venue that are both great and big places.

about 400 mate
but sure talamaska with dino wouldnt have more than 300...
anyway i have to say that music taste is music taste.everyone has his one ears and likes whatever he likes. i undestand u take it more serious as a promoter but i am not one thats why i make a bit fun with isratrance topics.
and the topic is athens wake up not salonika chill down,so if u want any help we can provide..I am kiding
take care all |

I am also making fun with most of the topics on the forum (in a good sense ofcourse) but i thought you were saying all this time that thesaloniki events gather more people than the athens one but in the end you tell me that average attendance for an event there is 400 people while in Athens on a well organised event in a nice place the average is something like 600 people not to say more.
Anyway i think that Athens is on a very good road and today i had some conversations and i can say that many and good events are planned for next year by various teams so things look very good at the moment

i was trying for days to be good and not answer to that topic but i cannot do it at last as an active member of the athenian dance scene since many years...
firstly i do not think that anyone has to coompete with someone else...
i would like to say that i dont have anything with promoters of thessaloniki and i have been there for many parties, and i will be in the future, but i think that except sofia (psyvibes) and her last moves, doc and also the prog parties which actually are a part of the trance scene but they do not mirror exactly the trance scene itself ... salonica has many problems generally with its line ups...
think that if dick trevor for example, the legend who makes all the stages be full in athens, come to salonica... only few people will go there to hear him for example... and generally i think that the music "education" in salonica is totally different than the one in athens... here we have other problems but no one could say that the scene is smaller ... come on guys we are 5 million and you are one at least the analogy is different... i think that in athens you could never see nowadays for example skazi in NYE party ...
and generally, is there ever the chance to listen to rastaliens, pogo, laughing buddha, hux flux, logic bomb, shane gobi and many more to mention ... and correct me if i am wrong, could that happen in thessaloniki and that could be a successful party there ???
Also, i have been there for protoculture party which cut about 700 tickets in the time that you say that in big events you have so many people but i thought that when a legend like protoculture was playing and four other serious names... i would have to se neraida to be full... but it wasn't...
i do not think so... thats the main point ... the music roots are different ... and by the way i prefer a real rave party with real psy like rastaliens or absolum or tristan or whatever rather than a big event with infected mushroom or whatever... it is matter of quality guys not of quantity for sure....

i can agree with everybody , im from thessaloniki but this topic is a stupidity! There is nothing to discuss about. I think promoters are not in competition between them for the one who gonna make the best party , everybody trying for the best they can! And maybe not each promoter have the possibilitty to do such a great events.Tell me ppl how many times we heard the same artists in thessaloniki during a year?
There are some names that coming really , sooo many times to play here! Maybe someone can rent also an appartment for them? Relax ppl and try to enjoy with what eveyone have. U know that nothing will change with these posts!!!
Peace.

Parties in Greece are not what they used to be in the mid 90's. When the media decided that kids going out in the forests and clubs, taking psychedelics kai "na vlepoun kyklous" to trance tunes, is going to make a nice top story, police hunted us down like terrorists.
We have all witnessed the fall of the beautiful scene we had and now some people are trying to bring it back, not to what it was, we can never have the same freedom we used to enjoy back in those days, but at least to have some good parties where people can go and feel the real vibe.
EVERYONE must try and think as a collective and work together. It is stupid to have parties on the same night. The numbers attending parties are very small, trying to divide that small number means failure for all party teams.
We must all work as a team because the scene is recovering from a nearly terminal disease.... and to quote Al Pachino "That's a team, gentlemen, and either, we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals."
Peace out.

1)Athens scene has been chased a lot by the police and people have even been to jail for organising events. In Thesaloniki things are not so strict for sure and this helps in the evolution of the scene there.
2)When Athens before 2 years had three psy events every weekend (and i am talking about very big events) Thesaloniki had just one party every Saturday.Things change from time to time.
Thats my two cents.

A)Thesaloniki doesnt have more and sometimes bigger parties than Athens because it has a bigger scene or a more dedicated or well informed crowd BUT because of other reasons that everybody knows but this is not the place and time to speak about them.I mean the fact and only that Thesaloniki has more and bigger night clubs than Athens when Athens has five times bigger population says it all.
B)Every weekend there are something like 4-5 main international progressive/house/minimal/techno guests in Athens so i guess that Athens is part of this new mainstream music trend. And to answer your question dear Toti last week there was a Minus label event in Athens at Fuzz Club with Marco Carola,Gaiser and Hoyle so your friends should be happy because such events take place at least once every two weeks.
Athens was,is and will be awake always, other people need to open their eyes and stop being close minded and act like we live in 1960-1970.

i wanted to ask psypunk who started this topic what would like things to be ?
every weekend psychedelic party is the "ideal" for some people ??
if you loved a band, lets call them for example iron maiden or even a much smaller, since you called psypunk ill put NOFX on that .. HOW many times have you heard them mate?? i personally have heard both band in 1998 in Peristeri and Rodon each other ..
thats before 10 hole fucking years man (well maiden have come again but thats not the point)
put trance now and your FAVORITE and what you consider to be TOP NOTCH producers with the greatest music in the world
HOW many times do you expect to listen to them
are you a party junkie?? do you eat trash and garbage and whatever they feed you ??
i dont think so .. i will put you now four weekends with lives , first Astrix then Talamasca , next Alien Project and another famous one (choose whatever)
where would you go ?? every saturday??
speaking for myself i wouldnt go to ANYONE of them , cause i dont like their music, attitude etc etc
I CHOOSE whenever i want to go, i choose what i consider to deserve my respect
then go and pay the ticket and have a very nice time in there and enjoy with the vibes
i believe youre not a kid, looking for the weekend to take drugs and listen to psychedelic/fullon/dark or whatever cause you want to smash your foot on the ground and get a fracture on it
and the "old-gold" with 7 parties per week dayz in my belief destroyed a lot of brains, looking for this type of enjoyment (i know you can only blame the person itself and not the music about that, but thats another reason for third party factors to come around like the police etc etc.)
i personally prefer and enjoy most three-five really good nights with top producers and smaller events maybe with local artists to have my beer and support the efforts of others here, than super commercial bullshit every day ..
that's life nowdays,, this exists everywhere in our everyday life, from TV, fashion eating, farting, fucking, music, movies ...
learn to choose, not to be chosen
my2c
ps. im not attacking psypunk or someone, this is my general view of things, no offense |

Peace ppl
My understanding is that the only thing for sure is that Athens has a completely different scene to Thessaloniki. Which one is better? I believe its a matter of taste.
If someone feels that Athens isn't adequate enough for his psy needs, either move to Thessaloniki or try to arrange events himself. Then - and only then - he will understand the difficulty of arranging such events.
I always believed that if there was a permanent place hosting parties (like Rex in London), things would be much better in terms of quality (i.e. lineup and sound) and of course profitable for the organisers.
Unfortunately, this can never happen, due to the fact that we live in a country were people are never happy. If anybody doubts this, feel free to browse in other forums and see the posts regarding ALL events taking place in Greece.
Honestly... who is brave enough to invest a fortune in this scene? Unless we find one, then things are welcome as they already are.
Once again... peace
