So, this weekend, 6/12 there are 3 BIG parties at Thessaloniki and Athens, nothing!
So, I guess Thessaloniki is the Psy Trance city....

Actually if there are 3 BIG parties in Thessaloniki on the same day its Thessaloniki organisers that have to wake up and communicate with each other and not Athens organisers who are in good communication and divided the weekends equally for everyone so that there will be no double and triple events on the same date which automatically means that no event will have enough people not only to break even but also for the people to gather and create a good vibe and have fun.
As pipe&slippers said its not only about quantity but also about quality and may i also add a matter of good communication.

Detox the city of saloniki has the double "Psy scene" from athens...and the scene here on Athens will destroy it ourself...

its not fresh news that thesaloniki has more and biger parties from athens.it hapens from previous decade.as for quality i have to tell u that artists like psaras and all these tsifteteli music not even pass outside thesallonikis clubs.so quality and taste can be talked about.
one month ago 200 people came to principal from athens for cyberians party..and its not the first time.
i know many djes from athens and they tell me that the basic problem is that they dont have a proper venue.and thats not athens promoters fault ofcource.
is my personal opinion mates.

i totally agreee with detox.3 parties in one night is more bad than good.other than that,it is a matter of timing.the previus weekend thesaloniki had no party at all

More stable events for sure, i agree.
Well, with the situation in Athens, yes it's difficult sometimes even to play for us...
Rarely something else than full-on or prog where we could fit hehe.
But we will arrange that in other ways... |

I have been in various parties in Thesaloniki and i have collaborated with many promoters there and i seriously doubt that the scene is double than the one in Athens.I mean this would be difficult to be true just in terms of numbers and only.In any case though even if the scene there is triple than Athens its not good and wise to have three great events on the same day for many and various reasons.
Also AGNOSTIC i didnt understand why you said that we will destroy ourselves the scene here in Athens.I mean everything seems nice and smooth for the last years and i dont understand the meaning of your words.Care to explain us a little bit more your way of thinking?
TOTI you mentioned something about the quality of events in Thesaloniki and their size and frequency during the last years,the last decade as you said actually.
Well i remember from 2001-2003 three massive events taking place in Athens every single weekend by the likes of Trance Alliance,Sunrise Zone,Utopia,Natural High and other teams with each event having easily 700-800 people when in Thesaloniki the scene was very small and thats why all the people from Thesaloniki were travelling to Athens to attend events here.Things and times change constantly and Athens was up then it got down and now its going up again if you ask me.Everything is a circle you know.
As about the quality of events excuse me but there was a time (and i know that time very very good) where people were fighting (in real terms) concerning who would book Skazi and the likes.And you might not like Dino Psaras music and for sure he hasnt been to Thesaloniki for a long long time but the same applies to other great artists that visit Athens quiet often like Etnica,Man With No Name,Electric Universe,Space Tribe and Deedrah for example.Its all a matter of taste anyway and i have nothing against any artist but i dont think that its right to claim that Thesaloniki has a better taste than Athens.After all 90% of the artists that play here play also there so the differences are very small if you ask me.Thank god Skazi belongs to that other 10% that doesnt play here LOL.
P.S 1 Concerning where the psy lovers are in Athens well i saw almost all of them last weekend at the Tristan event where almost everyone who has helped this scene one way or another was there having fun and dancing.In any case though the words "psy lovers" sound a little bit funny and childish to me because people love this music and support it in various ways and not only be attending parties.For example its no secret that all the old people of this scene rarely go to regular parties anymore but do travel every summer in festivals all around the world to enjoy their favorite music.A good example was the first Sonica Festival three years ago where more than 500 greek people went there and because i had the chance to speak with all of them since i was selling the festival tickets when i asked them why they dont come to regular weekend parties their usual answer was "we grew up and we prefer open air festival situations every summer".
P.S 2 As about finding the real athens trance lovers ONLY in Politexnioupoli well sorry but this sounds like a joke to my ears.I mean the majority of people are there for a million other reasons and not for listening to psy trance.Anyway big story.

i really hope athens scene to get beter and beter.
i have many friends in athens waiting for massive events.

DETOX,u think that the scene is ALIVE? we destroy the scene for many many reasons. for example: univercity (politexneioupoli).we left all the kanivals to destroy the area,and was our fault,i mean everyones promoter for each party,cause we dint control all that stupid guys..
.2example: Have organise a party at any date... bookings already one month ago,and 1 weak before the event someone else post a biggest event same day!....why all this?destroy teams each other?west coast - east coast?(i dont want to write realy examples...)
3.partys with junkies,drug dealers and people that is not under 17 years old...keep the scene alive?take the money for the entrance,make the (Gangsters) door keeping to fight with people and thats it?
most of people who like that kind of music,they dont want with any reason and any dj to come on these situations,and they prefere only private partys.....
u need more details?

That's a good topic...
1st I LOVE THESSALONIKH. Except mpaok (just kidding), I love this city for many reasons. But the truth is that it doesn't have the biggest scene in dance music. The last 4-5 years it has more parties than Athens and with some artists that very rare come here (i.e. Deviant species).
But the period between 98-2003 (i.m.o. the best for the greek trance scene) we had some major parties here like Sunrise Zone/Cyberfunk, Trance Alliance and Utopia that made some awesome and unforgettable events. To name a few: some N.Y.Eve's parties with Etnica, Atmos+James Monroe, Hallucinogen!!! and also almost every month specially in 2000-2001 Atmos and Joti were playing in Athens. Last but not least the NR6 events: X-Dream+Dino Psaras (who is not tsiftetelia at all, and please before judging, get a picture of the artist, regarding his history and gigs!), S.U.N Project +Haldolium+Dimitri (one the best events I have attended) Texas Faggot+Kox Box, Alien Project+Cosma and many others that I can not remember.
2nd: I admit that Thessaloniki has "born" many many many quality and pioneer local artists (not only in electronica) and that i.m.o. it has a more open minded crowd, regarding music. But after all is a small city, so even mathematically it can't have bigger scene.
3rd: It is good to think and talk about the reasons that Athens has fucked up its scene. I am wondering if its only the people or something else except drugs and stuff. And AGnostic my karntasi, what's the bad thing in being 17 years old and going to parties. My first one was at Amnesia in the age of 15. Good experience for this age which modulated a lot the route of my life. I was 16 when I went in Samothraki in 02. Is it bad? I think that even 20 or 30 or whatever if you don't have a basic feeling of respect, honesty and freedom you can be a stupid in any age.

u r right,but what feelings and what "trance periods" on this dates 30 days on 2009! and u r memories is on 1997-2000-2002,when the most of the ages down to 18 "mixed" on their head the trance with drug? it was like that on your age?

1st think is quality for a party i think....Quality is the space,the names and the vibes of the crowd....And thnx god.....i see that in athens parties,even take part at city+ or at x NR6 the vibes of the crowd are simply POSITIVE!!!!!I have been at thessaloniki parties and the taste is.....bad.....this is my opinion and the vibes i have the last 5-6 years going around from party to party.Earlier of that time,i had memories only from athens,from Battery and plus soda and as i remember there were great parties and great times.The only reason that parties in Athens are in high danger,is the "little" brains of the police and of course of some amount of party people!Detox and some gays of the scene,knows how to make a quality party....a blasting party....like last one with TRISTAN....Ok...We saw the scene of Thessaloniki....For 4th time in 3 years i think,SKAZI....This is not quality....It's not a matter of Athens or Thessaloniki ,Scene....but....cool....Athens has nothing to envy of Thessaloniki's scene

I didn't understand your last sentences.
In my age lot of people attended a party only for drugs and also a lot other people, for the rest aspects of a party. The main reasons for the dawn of the scene, always i.m.o., are 3.
1-police and the awful fascist government we have the last years
2- the people by them self (attendees)
3- and maybe some organizers that thought this scene has gold and we have to earn the much the soonest possible.
