he's just saying that he learned everything by himself and there was no music school to teach him at the time,if he had one he would surley invent the money to learn music,he advise everyone who want to take it seriously to go to a music school.
he started as a dj in small clubs and created house/progressive at the beginning and afterwards fullon cuz its more interesting, and also it took him 3 years to learn cubase by himself .
it's an advertisment for one of today's music school in israel called "BPM".

cool interview but the school i think is waste of money..if you want to produce trance 15-20 private lessons with me you will know much more. and get more resources for sure.
its pritty cool if you gonna open PA company tho they teach stuff on microphones and electricity that i have no clue about.

well there is ALOT of technical stuff.
not everyone allready knows whats the compressor treshold does.
and sure not everyone have optimized enviourment to listen to what they do.
and yes i also teach how to listen to certain stuff , another point of view is always helping.           www.sattelbattle.com

Why school? As it has been often mentioned music production and mixing is more about trusting your ears, experience on tweaking, visions and single-mindedness. These are things no-one can actually teach you. It's surely essential to know how compressor or eq works, but thats just 1% of all tha shit you will come up after 99% experience =)

I consider Astrix as one of the best =)

in the basic you are right
but your calculation is wrong imo there is MUCH more then 1% that i can teach a noob. much much more actualy. atleast 50% of the work. includ synthesis , mixing , arrangement , from the basic of how it works to actualy do it yourself how good will it be still depend on your vision and other 50% of the skills that has to come alone...

It's all about picking the right school though, I think.

I have a friend that's been studying audio technology for 3 years, I've been producing for 5 and there's so much stuff that I can show him, even in the space of an hour. Likewise there's a hell of a lot of stuff he can tell me.

The rest is practice, but there's a lot to know about this stuff. It's definately a life long learning process which can be supplemented by school, but you have to want to learn your own way as well.

I'd quite like the idea of one to one tuition because you can learn what YOU want to learn, rather than trying to match what you want to know to the closest relevant course.

well,if you have the ability to go and learn music , do it.it's fine to learn by yourself but somtimes you need someone who'll direct you to do things in the right way, instead of wasting your time trying to google/youtube everything to find useful topics.i'm not saying it's impossible without learning, but it's much easier and you get all the information that you need in a short time.
