I agree with getally in a sense... the whole trance scene is not a club scene or a saturday nite weekend drunken reverie... where ppl get drunk n devolve n become monkeys... nor it is a commercial concert types which will be held in the middle of the city to make money (some commercial sense is needed to keep the scene goin in the system but the intention shudnt become a money making business venture) ... nor is it a rich/busy/metro ppls recreation...
the whole thing started eons ago by the ancient ppl on the earth,. tribal gatherings with drum beats and psychedelics and a shaman to guide u to explore many things,. for constructive purposes and to find out many things and understand and to get in touch with ur own real self and the cosmos... it is a shamanic ritual to free ur mind n explore self n new dimensions n get wise,. not get drunk n wake up with a hangover and a numb/confused mind... the whole scene has become/becoming like this now,. waste... we are trying to compromise with teh situation like chickens and accepting what they're throwing at us... i personally will stop goin to any parties or fests if it turns out to be drunken mental scenes/commercial scene/fun fair,. no point... i will be happy with my i-pod n a head full of psychedelic or a sober meditative state of mind with closed eye in nature or a quite place, cud be my room also... it has to be wat it has to be,. else it loses its meaning... it becomes something else... not many of the ppl realize this... I know this whole scene is a bit of a fun thingy too in a sense u meet lotsa lovely ppl n mingle n spread love n relieve all the stress of the fake life we all have n for a moment when u r there experience the bliss thru music, psychedelics (or a meditative/trance state of mind) , good ppl n love ,. it is also a creative process thru which we unleash the magic n wonders that our mind can do thru art and music n many things ... So a ritual is a ritual,. it has evolved a bit to suit the recent times,. The DJ should become the shaman and guide the ppl thru his music,. good vibes n love shud be spread,. awareness shud happen... etc etc etc... but if u change even a li'll thing of the original sense of it, it is useless... commercialising it or making it a club scene or any of that sorts will deprive it of the real thing... its a party but not a "party" ... wake up n realize ppl ... there is a whole lot of other things u can get and experience from the ritual apart from just plain fun n hazy mind seeing colours only... |

With the authority's current outlook on the trance scene do you think anyone has but a choice to throw parties in clubs? If you were around on this forum 5-6 years ago you would have realized the number of outdoor parties BL managed to pull off successfully. In fact one should be grateful that there is anything going on even. Its a very tight situation and all organizers could very easily say fuck it and move on with their lives without having to take such risks(indoors even).
About this anti alcohol trip many people are on, i don't get it. You just have to accept and deal with the way society is. Not everybody wants to consume psychedelics you know? There must be a million people saying the same about all the ganja too. Do you think we trancers look any less monkeyish when we dance? Off course not. Very often it looks like gemini circus which happens in palace grounds every year. Those jokers on stage do the same moves. Pelvic thrust. Oh yeah.
Why don't you take into account that Astrix chose to go in that direction and there are plenty of people out there who enjoy his sound. The only reason Astrix, IM, Skazi gigs come across as concerts is because they were successful at what they wanted to do. You and I are nobody to question their personal choices. I mean none of us would go to such an event and expect night music playing right? It would be much easier to just go to the parties you like instead of bitching out other people's efforts.
How do you justify its not a rich/metro/busy person's recreation? Stuck in cave man era still are we? Get real and take into account the way things are today. Oh and the "whole" thing started eons ago? Off course. Fred Flintstones' daddy too made the wheel ages ago right? Why is MRF making money off it? Ah lets stop buying those tires now. Commercial Commercial right? I personally don't think there is any problem with psytrance being a business venture. Its just like any other investment. Organizers are not social slaves here to throw money for the sake of it. Give me a break. I also truly hope you know Astrix doesn't play for $200 even though it maybe India. Many times more than that in fact.
Sorry but i just think its boring to go on complaining about the party scenario without doing something about it yourself. You either support it or you don't, but don't target efforts that are keeping whatever little is possible at this time alive.
No offense intended mate.
Peace

@ zman...
well... wat i was trying to say is... with all this commercialization n tight situation etc etc n all that shite,. the whole real meaning and purpose of the ritual is fading away... u get it???!!!... (this whole rave scene concept is derived from the sacred rituals of ancient ppl,. it was a part fun thing for them too but it had a purpose n meaning too in it which made it so sacred n there are still some ppl who understand this and scene is being kept alive... Yeah scene now is the MRF tires of the flinstone wheel/ritual itself now,. .but that doesnt mean u can hang the tire around the neck and walk around coz its so kool... u look stupid,. a tire serves its real purpose only when put where it belongs,. and yeah u can either have cheap vikranth tires or a expensive bridgestone,. thats left to u as long as its serving the purpose... Or u can forget the tire also, its becomin obsolete now,. u want change? adaptation to modern times? ,. ,. throw it n u can use jet engines n fly n move fwd,. it still serves the purpose,. but they need to be kept/installed where it gives it full meaning,,. get it?)
im not sayin the orgs arent doin a great job or indoor scene with booze is fuck all etc etc etc... (i luv booze also by the way ) all i was tryin to say was the real intention is lost... its jus becoming a full on fun thingy or a money making thingy... fun is also nice but the intention also shudnt be forgotten (u can still have fun n still get some meaning out of the whole scene,. u know? ) ... if u forget that... there is no difference between us n the ppl who jus get drunk n high without knowing why they got so in the first place, jus for the kicks n just jump aroound like monkeys or being stupid... If fun n money is the only thing that ppl are lookin at then they have million other means to get that n done... money is imp for anything these days coz u don get anything done without money... u can keep the scene still meaningful n make some amount of money (shudnt get too greedy dats all )...
i really thank all the orgs/musicians/people, who are, in this tight scene still pullin it out n keeping the meaning if it... ..
what i was trying to imply was lets keep the meaning intact... thats all... im not goin full "anti" abt the scene here... i know 5-6 yrs back it was all great,. i know things have changed./ i know its difficult to organise gatherings now... so with watever we have we might have to be satyisfied for sometime until the scene gets better... But,. u shud never ever forget the respect for it,. else u will never get any meaning out of it... coz if u want u can explore a lot while havin fun too,. its important i guess...
watever,. hope u ppl understand the one simple fact i was tryin to say...
peace n luv...
PS- i never impolied to say psychedelics or Ds is a necessity... if u see my post i've also mentioned " or a sober meditative altered state of mind" ... its personal preferences... for me both works... |

I understand and my point is just how you mentioned, that everything undergoes change when unobstructed. But the diversion from the original golden era rituals has been happening for quite sometime already. And it will continue to happen Also, many of these full on acts have already started openly making statements about themselves not being psytrance even, such as IM & Skazi. I cant believe artists like Seroxat & Azax Syndrom changed in the way they did, wow what happened? So you see the particular sound an artist is making is always a key influence on the state of the scene and party situation? And artists are individuals and go through change too you know.
