Astrix is Avi Shmailov from Israel, one of the biggest headliners in the trance scene.
He released his debut album, "Eye to eye", (HOMmega) in 2002. Since then,
he is constantly touring the world, performing in massive parties and international festivals
promoting his unique sound and style. Along the way he produced some smashing remixes
for big names like Infected Mushroom and GMS and he has just finished his last touches
on his brand new second album – "Artcore" (HOMmega) to be released in September.
Coolio is a gem of a track. It is a blend of progressive, full on and rock'ish trance,
mixing clubby elements with driving base lines and rock guitars.
This track is a favorite top 10 track of many DJ's and has been played all around the world
in Astrix's Live & DJ sets for quite some time now.
The single includes the following track list:
1. Coolio (original version – will not be on the album)
2. Coolio (Infected Mushroom remix – a real stormer)
3. Techno widows (a taste from the forthcoming album)
4. Eye to eye (GMS remix – a tribute for a classic)

I consider Astrix to be one of the best full on producers, but I was hugely disappointed with ”Fire”, and those sampled guitars. It reminded me of Skazi, and I hope that “Coolio” will be a lot better.
Eyal mentioned progressive, and I hope we will hear more progressive stuff from Astrix in the future – some of the more laidback tracks like “Valirus”, “Crystal Sequence” and “Optical Vibes” are some of my favourites from him. DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Hey pr0fane,
Coolio is a masterpiece - nothing like 'fire'
( although i also like 'fire' as a one-off guitar track from Avi).
Coolio starts like an Atmos track and than turns to somthing like Oforia's claasic "Alien Pump".
The Infected remix is a monster with one of the longest build-up's since the good days of "Psycho".
And finally, if you liked "Crystal Squencer" & "Optical Vibes" you can be sure you'll LOVE
the "Techno Widows" track as it is from the same family - Dark, Driving and un-cheesy
(but a bit on the fast lane - 145 bpm).

i really like the first half of Coolio..second part i think is really bad.

the end of this track is a bit painful with housy blah...
