maybe call it liveish or lively... Sensient used to call his sets lively here... and he's dj abit and also add in some live synth parts etc. it's a bit more honest... |

just for the record:
many trance acts play live from laptop , baisicly playing ready mix , but its 24 bits , which allready is better quality then cds.
i dont know if ipod can play 24 bit , if yes , who care where the playback come from ? (ipod is more reliable)
this is incase the lappy is realy just for playback and nothing more. i do it now , but realy use the synths on stage and have in the playback from the computer some parts that ready for me to go crazy.. practice on live is lot of work , too bad they dont want to put in extra efford.

They made good music and made a path for a lot of other people to follow, so let them do as they want when they play live, if you wanna pay for it you better know what you are paying for.
And i dont think violence has anything to to with this kind of music, go listen to some hardrock or emo goth and beat each other if thats what gives you a kick.

no , whatever the sound system is (shit or genious) 24 bit will sound better then 16 bit. speakers and amps dont have bit divide anyway , its analog. compressor can easly be digital (ohh ok the amp also), but most of chanses is that it is 24 bit equipment.
with other thread we have in equipment room , laptop crashes were brought up to discussion , and yeah ipod is quite stable hehe 
i still think the word "live" in trance is very vague , or too many artists just cant admit they dont play live.

I like the term "live PA" which I saw the first time on Voov 2001. It stands for live "personal appearance" ,which I think should be used instead when the act itself do nothing or little to add to the already recorded tracks, especially if they only played their last record from A to B. I guess many liveacts today charge these huge amounts of money because, everybody downloads music, instead of paying for it, and they feel that they should get money for something. Or in some cases money for drugs I guess :/

its easy to say that AP did right 'coz we download their music. but what should say people who bought their music? there always were people who pay organizers on entrance, buy cds and truely value live acts and these people arent fools! why they have to listen to Ipod? sure there are only 10-15% of these people but they are the force which gives something to the culture.
okay, the topic is about attitude. AP are musicians and their JOB is to play music for which they get their money. If they dont do the job, they dont get the money. Everything else (drinking and falling from stage, beating faces) is just a human factor. Because 9000 isnt small sum.

i cant agree with some commment i saw above , for me if a artist is a professional artist , is not gonna play totally wasted ... about ipod or cd or DAT its all the same shit . meanwhile ipod doest read 24 bits audio unless your passing true computer and computer to mixer.
so ipod or cd = same shit , just that on ipod u can put much more music inside eheheh and easy to find what u want !!
but this kind of behaviour from astral is not good , neither for them , neither for the crowd who are there to see a good live or dj set and they see ppl who are really drunk .. well beeing drunk can happen , but beeing totaly wasted ??
