uhm, i dont think any artist no matter how big their name/ego is, should take people (who come out to their party) for granted.
been said before not everyone can dj, some are producers and some can do both, but if you fake it - fake it good then, with effort/sweat, so it doesnt look like "just another day at the boring job", give out some respect to the crowd.
sure AP is part of trance history, and deff they deserve respect for their achievements, but as an artist no one should let their fans down, playing tunes off ipod? unacceptable. falling off of stage or walking zig-zags on stage, i dont think that's very professional, and if someone thinks they can get away with it just cuz they got huge name, well thats direct disrespect to all that came out.
as far as live acts being fake or whatnot: i dunno, but personally i think it still is all about the effort, all about what you do, cuz not many really care how u do it, as long as it's done proper. (i think).
so overall, ish thinks AP needs to man it up and get their act together, at least for people's sake if nothing else.

for sure their "live act" is sucks.....like 95% of live acts this days! without any doubt!
its realy makes me sad this stupid situation
this drinking thing n' stuff.....this stupid behaviour
but also i still cant believe to this guy because nobody else prooved this.......
this guy that wrote this shit is not even the organizer.....its like reading psytrance gossip from tabloid 
i heard they have a drummer right now......so they trying to improve their live act....i hope so
and i hope their upcoming album will be amazing like "the prophecy" track!

um when they played in Melbourne in about 2002 their gear wasn;t even plugged into the electricity or the mixing deck... and the first like 5 tracks were unmixed from the Amen album in the order of the album... I'd have got equal value from listening to the cd at home... |

Way too much hipocrisy in this thread. Whatīs the problem AP playing from Ipodīs? Thatīs exactly the next generation of mixers will be about. It reminds me of a dumb guy I met some years ago who hated techno because Ļthe guy on the stage wouldnīt play any istrument liveĻ. He didnīt get that electronic music is not about performances. AND I do prefer AP playing 1% of their potential versus a 100% percent of thousands of other DJs and artists I have seen. What?! Because the guy is jumping on the stage and pushing PLAY and PAUSE, or beating on a side drum doesnīt mean he is doing something good. Good is about the quality of the music, if the crowd is really dancing or enjoying the time. After reading some answers it became clear that thereīs a lot of envy here.
Respect somebody elseīs work if you want to be respected. And before noticing somebody elseīs flaws, look at yourself and be frank if you can do better.

yo, playing tunes from ipod doesnt involve any intellectual challenge, even monkeys can be trained to accomplish that task, but seing someone as big as AP not even bothering enough to give people something of a performance, it's just wrong. and it's not like they've started something new & groundbreaking with ipod. i would expect house dj at some lounge doin it, but not AP, not in a 100 year timeline. and i personally doubt, anyone would find it awesome either....
would u like if you'd go to stand up comedy show, and comedian puts in tape - sits in the chair, starts scratchin his crotch and sips his drink instead of doin what he was paid/obliged to do????
and envy??? you hit the g-spot with that one... we are so envyous that we wanna see them sink instead of putting a one heluva show.

i dont give a shit about what AP does on stage, but if i was there i'd be mighty pissed.
imagine you paying to go see a bigass name like AP playing LIVE, and u get an iPod set getting played to you, wouldnt you be pissed?

They played live in Tokyo last June 29th, and guess what?! It was a great, positive, smile-on-your-face show. One that you take part in only once in a year, perhaps.
And itīs about envy man, because there were two guys over there not dancing at all - just like you see in every party. The wannabes. They were like vultures, just standing in front of the stage and paying ATTENTION to everything DJs and artists were doing, noticing faults and mis-matchings and etc. Iīm sure they didnīt like anything, because they werenīt playing. As I said before, respect first if you want respect.

For sure digital playback is the future for DJs - hell it's here right now (shame iPods have no pitch control though). There would be no problem at all if their set had been billed as any kind of DJ set... but it wasn't; presumably (I haven't seen the flyer for the party) they had 'LIVE' next to their name... and there's nothing 'live' about just pressing play on an iPod.

Respect? I rarely saw them smile.They always with "Terminator faces". Never liked them, BTW. from the beginning. Now, then psytrance is dead I just don't care that they do. I vote for them in DJ magazine, it's their dream perhaps to be "#1". And I am still launghing, it's a cult-topic.
