I'd like somebody who was a big producer and live act in the early Goa days to explain how they did live acts... seeing as there was probably less money then than there is now...

in greece, the last time they came, they had all the equipment for live (although they were annouced to play as astral projection, without defining dj set or live or both, expecting a set) and they performed live only few of their tracks, only the new ones i think, but all the rest (all their "old ones") were set and without beatmatch as i can remember...
but also remember that astral projection have produced killer melodies, and tracks in general, which state psychedelia.

ok..
i think they should at least not order expensive equipment..their act is expensive enough so far i know... sure they have some really nice tunes and are already dinosaurs in the scene, but they have also than a kind of responsibility to show that it is not a fake scene. (even duvdev sings live, but still not sure if its good like this 
i am sure, they are such good muscians, that they will find a solution in future how to make proper live sets!! so i am curios to see their set @ dropsreflection festival, what they will do...

that's cuz son kite's live sets are truely "live" in every sense of the word.
I think someone mentioned it earlier, maybe there should be another term that could be used that would signify something in between a "live" set and a dj set.
Now it's tough for any one to create a "live" set like Son Kite's, and it would be unfair to ask the same of anyone else. To tell you the truth, i really don't care if it's "live" or live. what ever that means.... I go for the sound, not for the show.
As far as israeli attitudes are concerned, stating "I am from Israel Pay Me".... hmmm, thats a touchy subject, i can attest to similar behaviour, and it is definitely something that i believe that many israelis are aware of, and as a result i'm sure that many israelis are more consciensce of this attitude.
But as Alias said, no one should be beating anyone. That to me seems to be even worse. How can anyone beat someone for not playing to their standards. Beating someone is definitely not the answer, and that promoter's name should be announced, so people are aware of this persons actions as well.
But to flip flop on the other direction again, If they were to be payed 9000 Euros for a "live" performance, they should at least act coherant during their act, and at least mix their tracks, and make the people at the event and the promoter at least feel like they got their money's worth.
Unfortunately damage has probably all ready been done to both parties, through defamation and such.
It seems to be a problem in the psy scene, i think many of us in our scene, have a constant cynic bitching disorder. I believe it has to do with, the protection and the "integrity" of keeping it underground.
If you go to see Tiesto or Deep Dish play, they charge 30,000 euros and all they are doing is djing and mixing and not performing a live set, and no one in that scene complains about it. They just enjoy the music. Whether the music is good or not, is besides the point, the point is that people are focusing in on the music, not on the show. There is no show, other than the dj waving his hands in the air  .
Bottom line, people don't pay the high dollar or euro amount for a "live" set. They pay for the name of the act or artist, to attract the people to the event.
But it is also the artists responsability to put on or at least make it seem like they put on a good show.

and better yet, the way the organizer treated them. "im from israel!" shmock.
same thing happened with ultravoice here in brasil, he screwed over a party organizer, took his money, and vanished to israel...
but its correct, most "live" today is fake man, not many artists do it live.
and who's fault it is? the superstar adoring.
because of those people that simply adore the "superstar" dj's, they get fucked.
because whatever they play is good, because they are ASTRAL PROJECTION!
stupid shit man... and those artists that aint very well known, like Tom Cosm, Talpa and such, they do it live, because they have to build themselves up...
when the "superstar" thingy stops, artists will put in more work.
and yeah, a trance LIVE isnt playing everything live onstage and tweaking every single thing.
but cmon, you could put in some creativity!!!!
a simple tweaking of a Glitch vst, or filtering some kind of recorded MIDI, even recording simple chords live with a MIDI controller, that makes it some kind of live!

Great topic!
Before i started playing my own livesets i was very angry with all the fake livesets.
But now i do im kind off in between
For example, i played a lot of partys where i had just enough space to put my laptop
Almost falling off the table! leaving no space to put any of my other equipment.
Also alot of times having only access to a dj mixer with one free channel... especially in clubs!
If i have the space i really like to do as much as possible
As we are with two we can really create something on stage. running 8 differnt groups for everytrack and having two laptops midisynced to mix the tracks live over a big live mixer, possible to send fx for every differnt channel etc.
But almost nowhere its possible, is it because of lack of equipment or just because we have no time to set everything up.
So many times we end up playing the backup wav in ableton and just tweaking some fx or doing absolutely nothing when its not possible
The story about ap is not really shocking to me, i've seen many artists doing it this way.
For me the only electronic liveset that is truely live is Booka Shade. Whay they do is incredible! go check it out on youtube 
About the payments... as already said before, artists are losing lots of money over electronic downloads and they have to have some way to pay the bills and to keep making music
Its impossible to get a job while trying to make music, atleast for me it Spend all my time either in the studio or playing/preparing/contacting for bookings and looking for new music to play

then they wanted to receive the money and the conversation was:
astral proj.: "WHERE IS MY MONEY!"???!!!
party producer: "WHERE IS MY LIVE ACT"???!!!
astral proj.: "I WANT MY MONEY"!!!! IM FROM ISRAEL"???!!!
party producer: "OH YEAH; AND IM FROM PORTUGAL"!!!! and the party producer beat in him twice
this is a true story and if you want to book astral proj. in the material list put a Ipod because they will need it hehehe

My friend, show some respect to ASTRAL PROJECTION! Don't forget that they have been an influence for many artists 2day....
I remember, when i saw them "Live", i was really looking forward to that....but i was not happy too, cause they didn't play Live, that they suppose to, but Dj Set....  but ok, they are very famous 2day so i think that they go with the idea: "Why bother and play Live, lets play a Dj Set and get out of here! People are still gonna dance with our music...!"
That is my opinion....

Sounds to me like this is a clear case of a promoter paying for something he didn't get. IMO he was quite correct to be angry about it (especially about the ""I WANT MY MONEY!!!! IM FROM ISRAEL" bullshit which is unforgivable) but it's a shame he showed his anger with violence. I don't like that.
Fomenth - you say "show some respect to ASTRAL PROJECTION"; whilst their music and their history in the scene deserves respect there is nothing to respect in their behaviour as described on this thread. They respected neither the dancefloor nor the promoter and so in this case deserve no respect themselves. "Respect where respect is due". Respect, like money, must be earned. And - like money - it can also be squandered for no benefit to anyone.

just on the where is my money i am from israel part - it could simply be the guy was meaning "hey look i'm from another country and all", implieing that this is an added reason to finish all affairs properly.
