the genious of tango nuevo.
this is intense music that you experience
with every cell of your body .
you've heard his music being played on the "12 monkeys" sound track for example.

Astor is a genious indeed. I love tango.
Some time ago I was in a performance of his music.
It was very beautiful.

And generally speaking, Tango is good music, and the dance itself is enticing and sexy.

I had the luck to attend a Piazzolla's performance in a theatre in Rome (thanx to my teacher who brought me there and my granny for havin' his records in her collection) back in 1987: simply amazing music (or poetry?), pathos, magic, probably one of the most remarkable of the 20th century if you see it as the passage or evolotion between a "folkloric" genre now considered "classical music".

well, Libertango is not a collection of remixes, but remakes with different arrangments by Gary Burton, an amazing vibrophonist (probably the best).

another interesting remake about the music of Piazzolla is "The Eight Seasons" by Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica (Nonesuch), a classical music journay through Vivaldi's and Piazzolla's Four Seasons.           ::Memento:Audere:Semper::

Yes, Gotan Project is a wonderful electro-tango group.
They've been to Israel too, I was really upset for not being able to go.
They also perform with Yann Tiersen, the great composer,
who's well-known due to the sweet soundtrack he composed to "Amelie".

Gotan Project have a remix that has borrowed some things frm Libertango (Grace Jones flew to the tops in late '80s I think), but it is actually Sarah Vaughan - Whatever Lola Wants (Gotan Project remix).
Astor Piazzola is a master at work (I'm borrowing things also here )
But as far as tangos are concerned by favorite is the one Al Pacino danced in Scent of a Woman (Thomas Newman music?)
I have danced it also , my performance didn't make it to Hollywood though...

Well,I grew up un Argentina a place were Piazzola was pretty much a god for some people and for others just a musician without any respect for tango, very traditional music, and the thing is that this guy improove so much on the tango that the roots lover's never understand he's music ...untill he died and then, suddenly everybody understood Piazzola and he's message and he was a hero for everybody.
Better late,or too late this time, then never.
Don't you think???
