I went and bought this one after giving up a little on Interchill beceause of some of the tracks I liked instantly and so decided to give it a proper space.
After long listenings here are my conclusions:
All an all this is a decent and pleasent listening experience nice for the background, however, as a proper full attention listening experience it fails inbetween some bright moments. The bright moments include Cheshire Cat (of Leftfield) mainly. His voice is just overpowering. Standing out are Earthforce and the fun Beat da Drum, Gringo!. Both I'll be very happy to dance to. I like the second part of the album better. It's also nicer to listen to sound wise. The first part is sometimes overbassed, even for a dub album, for my taste and even my exellent earphones get distortion at times that is just not nice (especially in track 5). The same was also in sub signals (which i didn't like at all). I wish some tracks here were developed more. like 8, 10 & 12 that start great, have a totally grabbing rhythms but don't really go anywhere beyond that for my taste. |
