i don't like your kick at all. i think it's too short and lacks low end. the sound of the bassline it's fine but it's not driving enough. i think maybe you compressed the all track too much, and it lost dynamic, or maybe you should just tweak carefully the velocity and length of the bassline.
for me this track is absolutly dark. i don't call it fullon. fullon for me it's more brakes, lifts, stops, melodies. it's not just 145 bpm.

Nice one, but like dj chichke says, it' dark, not fullonish.. ;D and try to volume up all, play with bassline octaves and you will have full on.. and remember, your track is like azax in the begining so.. keep it up..!! ;D peace and love.. sub zinho.. |

I didn't compress my kick or bass at all or much of anything in the track... I don't really go for "fullon" sound or something specific, I like to mix all of my influences, but yeah this one tipped towards darker sounds . Agreed that I could do more with the velocity.
@Bosque: there's a decent amount of bass note shifting throughout, but I tried to not make it like how other fullon sounds. I was focusing on letting the long sounds develop more towards the front of the mix. Overall the track is at a decent volume for not being mastered; between -4 and -3db.
Thanks for listening and for the replies!

Cool one. And I agree with others here: there is hardly anything full on about it. It’s more like darkish tech trance (I can imagine an Opsy remix of it easily). I kept on thinking that if you change your bass line to something bouncy, this track will be very close to techish Suomi of Calamar Audio. Somebody could remix it into a bonus track for “Squid Liquid”.
dj chichke’s complaints are the very things I like about it: nothing is in your face. It’s a nice change.

Thanks. I need to stop labeling my music, I just go for psychedelic sounds that fit my mood at whatever tempo I happen to be producing that day. I can see it's distracting for some listeners who expect one type of sound when you label something (not that this is a bad thing, it just unnecessarily changes perception).

No trouble on my side - I slap my own style labels on everything I hear anyway.
Listen to "Squid Liquid". Maybe I 'm just crazy or maybe there are some similarities there. Just wondering what you think... |

@Maine: I'll have to check that out, never heard of it/him/her?
@mist: yeah, but it makes for a fun topic of conversation
Maybe I'm subconsciously doing it on purpose to feed my need to mess with people . http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

What I like: The overall idea, the build up, the kick(but needs more power), some interesting sounds during the journey. Some widening and volume of all sounds would be welcomed.
What I dislike: Some percussions(especially the Hi-Hat that goes through the whole track, some other Hi-Hat I'm sure would fit better), the lead sound that comes at 04:25, it is nice as a sound, but as it is it's not strong enough if you know what I mean, in some other form would sound nicer maybe. Also I don't like the bass enough, some darker bass for my ears would sound better.
Overall a nice track(It's between dark and morning), I like it in general, as I'm a fan of tracks that bring different sounds constantly.
Cheers

Thanks, my influences definitely get mixed as I try to produce off of feeling rather than having more intention.
That being said, you can understand how a random day I was REALLY into that lead that comes in at 4:25. Heh, I just realized how true that is as I typed it .
