ARTISTS: what is the % of your track you release

I just ask to the artists on this forum , when you look at all your finished tracks, (even the ones not mixed or mastered)
what is the % that you finally choose to release ?

As I used to have on DAT some gorgeous tracks of simon (or others) that were never released, I just find a litle disapointing this gap between the masterpieces created by artists and the tracks released for public.
I don't know if it is still the same nowadays but lots of tracks that I used to have on DAT had a slower bpm than the same titles released on Cd, the version were often a bit different and far more better quality. Of course the mastering to produce cd makes the sound of the track more plate, and in the end I sometime even don't recognise the beautiful ones I had on dat and the ones on cd.
For sure commercial cd have to be under 74 ' and every minute has its price
Do the artists choose the tracks they will release because those are their fav ones or because they think they will help the cd to sell more ?
(wrong question

...I sometime ask myself how many masterpieces stay in the dusty corners of artist studios to finally be forgot instead of being enjoyed by people...

my idea in time: when it all will evolve in my case i would put the unreleased/demo/other tracks on a site free to download

just because i know some people would really enjoy those more or less sidetracked ideas from the whole           no situation is stronger then a heart that dares to love
so may the force of life light and love be with you

Funny you should mention it... I have been working on putting together the proper materials to help artists release their lost tracks online. Many tracks do not end up licensed, and as the years pass, many more are out-of-print on dead labels with rights returned to the original artist. If the artists were up for it, I would like to see such materials released online with proper packaging and such... fans will certainly appreciate it, and old music, or music never much heard, will live again

Ive never released anything officially, but as for ones I feel like sharing, its like 100:1 ratio of garbage:good.

Of course Im counting unfinished and unfinishable stuff. Song files on my HDD. As for finished tracks that Ive shared, its more like 1.3:1.           .
