Performing in front of a crowd is always good fun, makes for a more positive view of the evening, and getting payed helps. Maybe that's a simpler explanation for why artists/DJs are having fun. What would you rather have - an artist that has fun at events, or one that sees them as just business (and therefor, anything not a huge club/festival will be amaturish crap - and won't talk about that party except maybe a vague reference about another small gig)?

They *are* selling themselves cheap. Limos for artists please! And a chick under the decks. Don't say anything positive about a party organizer unless those things happen!!!          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

how cheap is cheap?
i have a rough idea.
to make a good track, it takes a week, working many hours a day. personal opinion. doing a day job after a decent education, you can make roughly 200 pounds for that much time.
after which you are exhausted and need a rest for a few days at least, musically.
not to forget that it takes years to get to a point where one is consistently able to make good music.
and then there are people who want the music for free..labels, party organisers, and most of all people like you and me who would happily copy 4 gb of other peoples music of our friends hard drive..music thats taken a very long time to make.
i think THAT.............is cheap.

believe in nothing, and you will find yourself.

dont know why people are so pessimistic..

why do u care that psytrance artists are selling themselves cheap.. why dont u care about something else

the psytrance scene.. its cheap scene.. but its with spiritual people , spiritual music

lol, I suppose this was the joke of the day.. Spiritual people?? Spiritual music?? No offence, but I feel shame watching all those people who claim to live an oh-so-spiritual life. I see much more spirituality in a man who works hard to support his family, cause in his ignorance it's the best he can do and he does it with love and devotion. Our scene is full with people who preach spirituality, it seems they are spending their lives trying to convince everybody about all they've been reading in their new age books. But is it me, or is there a huge difference in between preaching spirituality and actually living it?? Best way to be spiritual is to live it and be respectfull and understanding towrds others, allow all to have their own opinion and let everybody experience the tests of life by themselves instead of saying: "let your love shine! We are one, we really are (but their ego shows differently, jejeje), love & light, people!! " Anyways, I think I made my point clear here..

No offense, but Blah, blah, blah,....have you walked a mile in Hallucinator's shoes...or anybody elses'? How do you know that those people who you say talk, but don't walk don't lead a spiritual life of parenting, working for the betterment of others/themselves, etc.? Man, so much judgement here!!
As has been previously stated...just because the party sucked for you, did have to for everyone? Because someone had a transformative experience, they must be full of shit? Oh, don't forget the artists who had a blast...they must be selling out! And the music...I thought it sucked, so it must suck for everyone, right? Obejectivity...where...over there...nope...
I love the scene, I love the people, and I love the music....I must be a mindless, no-opinion slave, driven by, and influenced soley by the decisions others!
~with love~

well your my favorite mindless no opinion slave mutki! hah!

I too am sick of the pessimism. If its not for you, find something that is, yea? I personally eat it up and if the artists are getting cheap, well hell yea, I can bring more of them to the next show then. To all the whiners, I got an idea, shut up and throw your own show.. book the talent you have had stuck in your head for months, find a venue that will allow it to go on until morning, make sure its got a properly maintained space, cut the grass, intentionally design the space with deco and lighting, hire sound and make sure its proper, then pray the kids come so you dont lose your ass.. and when you do, and it was worth it. then talk to me. until then. please. shut. up.

I'm glad the artists recognize it when a promoter tries to make something out of nothing and work with them. everyone wants everything free, oh the party is too expensive.. well plane tickets aint cheap and alot of the best acts arent eather. If the show sucks, dont go. but alot of people (in the US at least) are still throwing parties with intention and when they dont, the word spreads around. so I think the scene weeds itself out.

sorry guys.. but this IS spiritual for me. this IS my religious experience of choice.. and I lose money on shows and still love every minute of it.. and you know what. If I had more money, I'd be losing it too. shit I'm trying to figure out the best way to make more so I can keep it goan this time around.

I really wish there were more positive threads and less threads started by jaded ass people.

Well vaxination, I really wish there were less people like you around. Brainless.

And please, let us know about any parties you are throwing with the ¨please boook me artists¨. So we can avoid it. eheh.

What price can you put on the joys of making the music you love though? I studied my ass off learning audio tech in college. It cost me money to study, money I had to make from working as a bartender at first, then working 14 hour shifts as a sound techy in some venue...and it took a year of carrying 100s of heavy flight cases out of tour busses, before I even got to touch a FOH or monitor desk. And even if I worked till the morning hours, I still had to get up, go to class with a clear mind and focus on the subject I love. It took a lot of people saying the tunes I made sounded shite (and they were right too), before I made some tunes that people danced to with a smile on a dancefloor, so all in all, I had to put an awful lot of energy and time into this. But I am not posting this on a forum to gain respect from others, I am no different than the next guy who went through a lot to be able to make tunes they really liked them selves, let alone the people who love and dance to this music.
But the biggest reward of all is to be able to sit down and make music that actually (to me anyway) sounds good and makes me feel complete and that is not cheap by any means, its priceless.

It may all sound a bit too romantic, to the ones that sustain their homes, families, from the income of their productions and gigs, but I don't have to sustain my life style from music. I have a day job (and a night job) which ultimately leave me less time to make music, but that little time I get in my studio, makes up for everything else.

Yes, some labels and some promoters, will exploit some artists, but the world ain't perfect. Only thing you can do is keep doing what you love doing. The day you'll stop loving it, you'll stop doing it and find something else to complete your self.
Until then, I'll be making tunes.

I'm not too worried about you coming out ganges you seem like a jaded troll that hides at home. and if your going to talk so much shit why dont you name some artists to elaborate on what "cheap" artists you are referring to. I book artists based on quality of music and reputation for playing good sets thats my "brainless" strategy.

I'm sick of the complainers. if you dont like all the isreali acts you've never heard of hitting you up on myspace then delete the thing, thats the only place I ever notice a bunch of psy artists trying to sell themselves, and I dont really blame them, who doesnt want a free trip around the world? but I'm not footing the bill unless the sound is unique and amazing not some formulaic cheesy nonsense.

alright I'm done. brainless one over and out.           .:.vaxination.:.

Thumbs up for an excellent topic - for the years I have spent in this community was always a little weird to watch the rising amount of suck ups in certain parts of this forum. Hilarious from one side and little sick/sad from the other side...

And thumbs up to you Akbal for a great speech about the Spirituality in Trance scene, couldn't put it better than that myself...

Oh must go now, need to stand in lotus posture and clear my Anus Chakra to receive a blessing from a big party organizer.
