Track list for Cell mix on Sunday 25th 7pm UK time zone...
PATCHWORK
(Selection by CELL)
1 - ART OF NOISE - On Being Blue
(The seduction of Claude Debussy)
I really love the concept of fusion between spoken words, lyrics and electronic composition. A very high level track, with a huge sense of emotion...(For info, Flo & me decided to use it for our wedding a few years ago. Such a magical moment...We were flying with angels...)
2 - SAINKHO NAMTCHYLAK -Introduction
(Step Mother City)
I love her work. Such a great singer, who can combine Classical, Jazz with electronic environments...She perfectly knows her voice and it manages to create deep emotions!
3 - Sheila Chandra - Except from ABoneCroneDrone
(Bliss - RealWorld)
I can't explain why I'm so touched by this track...Perhaps the fact that it includes all what I look for in music. Sheila Chandra is so talented!
4 - JAMES MURRAY - Colour has its own language
(Where Edges Meet)
Aaaah...James, my friend!...;-)
Really nice album. The most interesting thing with this type of music is that you can concentrate your listening and be completely surprised by the music. This is exactly what I'm looking for in sound. Thanks James!
5 - SYNC24 - Walk On Spheres
(Source)
Well, well, well...Hard to explain when I listen to Daniel's album. I received it recently. This album is what I needed to go deeper and deeper in to my soul. I really love it and I think I will listen to it for many years. Thanks, Daniel!
6 & 7 - THE BEATLES - Lucy in the sky revisited / Arranged by Nicola Tescari / Vocal by Meg (B For Bang)
I've heard this version of "Lucy in the sky" very late on the radio. I jumped on the phone to call them and ask the references of the CD. The full album is so nice, so contemporary, so different of what you know from The Beatles. I love it!
8 - LOU REED & JOHN CALE - A Dream
(Songs For Drella)
A dream is certainly one of my greatest musical experiences...I have spent so much time listening to this track that I could consider the two guys like friends. I love John Cale's spoken words and the sound treatments on the two instruments. This album is a big reference for me.
9 - SIGUR ROS - Hoppipolla
(Takk...)
I'm a big fan of their universe. I have all the Sigur Ros's albums. White, Winter, Words, Symphonic and Rock are for me the words that could best define them. I'm really touched by their Music.
10 - THE GRID -Angel Tech
(Bliss - RealWorld)
I don't know why, but I love this track. It appears on a Real World Compilation and I really enjoy the emotion of the track.
Very sensitive, very smart...Great work!
11 - PHOTEK - The Hidden Camera (Static Mix) (Risc vs Reward)
Big reference, too. I really like his work. Very sharp, very clever. Broken beat that's very efficient. I like that when I'm in the subway travelling to work in the morning.
12 - ESBJÖRN SVENSONN TRIO - The face of Love
(Good Morning Susie Soho)
Aaaah...EST!
So sad when I heard he died last June. Such a great Swedish composer, such a great pianist!...I'm a big fan of his work!
This track is very interesting because it's Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's famous track "Face Of Love" version. This jazz version is so nice that I have to add it in my selection. Thanks Svensson, RIP!
13 - SUSHEELA RAMAN - Kamakhi
(Salt Rain)
I met Susheela a few years ago. We exchanged a few words about music, such a nice woman!
The first album is a major reference in my ethnic conception of sound. I would love to work with her!
14 - SOLAR QUEST - Flying Spirals
(Orgship)
This is THE ambient track for me. The funny thing is I bought the CD several years earlier (1995!!!) and still listen to this master piece!
15 - CELL - Calling
(Medial Forebrain Bundle)
The intro track of my next album.
16 - AURAL FLOAT - Switchin' the Waves (FreeFloat)
A friend of mine offered me this album many years ago. He told me "you should like this. Just listen to it!" He was right. I like this album. Very well done, very smart.
17 - HOL BAUMANN - Benares
(Human)
This version is absolutely brilliant!
The work on the sound is very high! A real talented composer. The full album is nice!
Thanks Olivier!
That was just a simple selection of pieces of music which are important to me... A global thinking of music, without frontiers, without rules, just feelings...This is the reason why I chose different universes...Thanks for understanding and welcome to my soul! - Cell

that is an interesting choice of music !
I will definitely listen to it.
thanks for the mix cell and Fluid Radio !
Cheers !
The face of Love is a great track !
Esbjorn Svensson Trio is one of my favorite bands for several years...
Esbjorn Svensson's death is a real tragedy ! and a big loss to the music world.
he was a very talented composer and a very unusual pianist !
He was 44 years old when he died, married and the father of two sons.
I'm so sorry to go offtopic but people who don't know about E.S.T should really read this !
Dan Berglund (double bass), Magnus Öström (drums) and Esbjörn Svensson ( piano )
these 3 very talented musicians took Jazz to a completely new and exciting place !
each one of them brought something special with his playing and influences, from Classical music influences to Rock, Hard rock, Drum and bass, jungle, Ambient , Jazz, Jazz fusion,Trip hop, Progressive rock , Blues , Funk, post Jazz and pop.
the 3 of them were experimenting with electronics and you can hear it on most of their albums.
in my opinion they invented something really unique that goes much farther then the modern western jazz.
I can describe their music as someting so deep, powerful and yet ethereal, spiritual and very emotional, full of magic melodies and sounds that can just break your heart !
with all that said, as opposed to most Jazz their music is much more accessible because of the catchy and yet sophisticate beautiful melodies.
their technical level of playing is absolutely brilliant !
each one of them controls his instrument in a masterful way !
I really recommend to check out their albums, especially these ones :
