what do you relate to more... the artist or the track made by that artist?
When you listen to an artist album for the first time... do you try connecting to the artist's idea behind making this album? or do you just hear through the album to look for the best tracks?
Nothing is said that has not been said before.

Tracks first, usually, until there are a few in my faulty mental database to recognize that I've experiened several gifts from the same artist.

The track.

As long as it is good, it does not matter who did it.

I try to judge tracks on their own merits... but I know what your saying. Some artists have a very strong signature sound which is hard to ignore.

Its like such albums are music and a concept all in one, which I guess makes it easier to relate to the artist behind the music...

I prefer albums by artists, so i can get a sense of which direction he's heading. As usual, there are some i feel more in touch with than others.
Usually in comps..i like listenin to them mixed, so to better hear the 'story', but that happens rarely and i end up just choosin the tracks i feel can fit into my playlists.

i guess we all first ask which track it is and then only the artist. only if we like the track we get into the artist details...

but for example; sometimes there is a blasting track in a compilation, but then you buy the debut album and is not what you expected, so you have to stay in the middle i think, a combination of "artist=track, track=artist" (but now is comming to my mind that also the label is important too).
So better,If you hear that "the artist" or some label of your choice is going to release a track or an album go inmidiatly to saikosounds and find out how it sounds and then decide . haaa!

full lenght albums by artists i prefer more than va..coz the an artist has to show a story plus diversity in every track..lots of new ideas and atmospheres in the tracks and the relation from 1 to 10

I listen to the samples of the album in the web-vendors then if I like I get the album. I will then keep a look out for future releases of that artist and releases on that label.
If someone mentions an artist I'll look up the artist's releases.
If I hear of a new artist/track on a compilation I will look up the artist from then on or course.
All the tunes I have downloaded I have then bought.
