As Clown put it well, most strait up techno or house acts do not do live sets because they are closer to DJ and vinyl culture than the trance scene. That and they respect the crowd enough to not pretend to play live electronic music
I know some that do live acts and DJ (Richie "Plastikman" Hawtin, Terrence Fixmer, Jeff Mills) but there are plenty of DJ's who produce techno/house who prefer to simply DJ (Thomas Heckmann, Chris Liebing, Manu Le Malin, and plenty others). |

Personally I found my production to be severely lacking and immature. I decided that I needed to be much more familiar with the music I want to make, so I started buying cds, and eventually a couple cdjs, a mixer and headphones. Im still no Xenomorph or Electrypnose, but I do know how to actually make danceable music...
Yeah, I know you're talking about money, I just thought Id share what Ive discovered in my psychedelic musical adventures.
To me, the live set is the epitome of psy performance, for me its mostly a matter of sound quality. A .wav loop or sample has much more quality than cd audio. But Im a quality freak...

I'm sorry but I highly doubt you are able to distinguish a 24bit/96khz wav from a 16bit/44.1khz CD |

neuromantik - that depends on the music... but generally for this sort of music you wont be able to tell the difference, but when you record acoustic instruments with lots of dynamic nuances, its difference.
and about the money issue,
well most artists dont play for weed and beer only.. even though im sure many would, if this scenes climate were different. the only way to earn some money is to play "live" and Dj.. its not like the artists get rich on selling Cd´s
though who said that they should become rich enough is enough..
we got a strange image of artists, too much Mtv i guess..

far as i know there is no cash really in production unless you go super artist like infecetd or skazi. So most of us do it for the love and not for a cash income , i make a little bit of money when i do gigs but its not my income i rely on
For those that understand no explanation is necessary ; for those that dont , no explanation is possible
