Basically what we mean as intelligence i think would be what we could call problem solving. Being able to get a solution.
But what does that come from, what is making intelligence able to exist at all ?
What is consciousness ? What is life ? Who am i and where am i , not what my subjective consciousness fools me with, but in reality.What is this thing called life that i am a part of.What is the tree that i am a branch of ?
Well, no clear answer to that . Perhaps something that always will exist and only transform and change but never cease to be.

This is AI according to definition (it is a learning Intelligence Agent). AI already exists, and is a general umbrella name for basically any decision making computing model with the capability to guess the proper response according to (previously unknown) input. It is already prevalent in the financial sector (and is the main tool of Quantitative Analysts - the most powerful investor in each major bank), but entering everything from phones (Apple's Siri, Magisto's video editing, etc) to houses. Google's search engine, Facebook's recommendations, tineye, etc... these are all trivial uses of AI.
It is not Strong AI, which is what we really want to achieve, and will be the REAL revolution in how people use computers. Strong AI is what we consider "human-like" intelligence. Computer scientists already proved that once we get one part of it working (let's say... the ability to LEARN to understand speech), we can get around to making it do everything else "only humans" can do.
So, for all the curious: AI is well defined. Strong AI is when computers gain the ability to become outwardly sentient (and as far as we know, as sentient as we are). The first is in general use. The second is still far away, but a lot of the greatest minds in the world are working on it.
