We are a group based out of Iowa City (one of the biggest college town in US) and throw parties around greater mid-western region.

Recently we threw a party in one of the not used university museum building and it was featured in an article in the school newspaper.

Online link to the article: http://media.www.dailyiowan.com/media/storage/paper599/news/2008/04/10/80Hours/The-Trance.Of.Life-3314829.shtml

Personally I think its a very, very well written article Whitney. It truly captured the nature and intent of these events.           Discover.Vote.Share() - http://www.beamto.us

it was an interesting reading although i did not agree with some stuff

"I think people discover themselves when they come to these parties. People are used to walking into a room and being perceived - stared at and stared down," Rodriguez said "But [at psytrance parties], the focus is the music. So even if you don't know anybody, you can go and dance, and you'll know people by the end of the night."

yes the music is the engine that fuels this culture, but nowadays more and more people stare into others to see if they fit the culture..you are somehow judged by your looks..i see a "phenomenon" that people stare at you and if you have signs (like dreadlocks, weird hair cut, psychedelic clothes etc etc..), you can be in aprty, if don´t they look at you in weird way

well, not everybody does this, but it is a growing fact.           ...

Hmm, interesting. Since the scene is so new and underground around midwest US that we haveyet to face such problem so we dont know. Yes we do have our occasional drunkards in the party but still its more or less about the vibe.           Discover.Vote.Share() - http://www.beamto.us

That's a very good point that you bring up acidity.

Many of the larger festivals and psy parties have a more commercial side to it, where it seems that many people that attend try to bring out their psypimp gear and are out to impress other people(Boom festival).

Where in many other places, the commercialism hasn't come yet. So through your eyes, the parties In Psyowa, has been lucky enough to not experience any of this yet.

The Gatherings we have out in California, have a wonderful community feel to it, and the things that you may be experiencing A3K, is not a part of our reality.

Not yet anyway....            "On the path of spirituality, one ventures to vanquish one’s own faults rather than to judge others"

"145 Beats Per Second"

LOL looks like somebody might have overestimated just a bit.

Good article, it really sums up the differences that the psy scene brings that you don't get elsewhere.

Holy cow, I didn't even notice this when I read it. Funny how the mind assumes things while reading. I love this article and am SOOOO happy to be able to participate in this wonderful, growing scene.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Excellent read....I agree with it very much. The Psiowa/Mindoutpsyde scene seems similar to the LA/Psytribe scene...
