Hi guys,

I found this short article about trance in the U.S. from Trancers Guide to the Galaxy. Its kind of old and outdated (2005), but who knows, some of it may still be relevant in parts and contain useful information for some people. Maybe some of you also feel like commenting on how the scene has evolved from this time onwards.

Reading the article was a similar experience to coming across a diary I had forgotten about from 5 years ago. For the Texas part since then, there's more outdoor events seemingly currently than indoor events. Inti String I haven't heard about in ages. Flipside has very close to 0 psy, and when I did catch one tent playing a track this year, the track sounded like it used to be the pinnacle of the apex 12 years ago. Oh and right after the guy played 1 track it went back to good old reg trance. Still there is a big gleaming beacon of hope for Texas psy in the present. So big thumbs up for that.

After reading the articles, there is a lot that is still consistent but a lot of new developments in terms of artists and crew which the article leaves out when reading it and thinking about the state of the US scene today.

I am also convinced there are more than "5000 hardcore psytrancers" in the U.S. like the article estimates (whatever the hardcore means - propably that they are willing to travel far for psy and attend festivals regularly). This number should be higher by now, right? Just curious.

I'm not even sure how they got that number in the first place. If you add up all the attendees to all the psy events in current North America I'm pretty sure the number should exceed 5000. As for traveling far to attend events, North America is a uniquely vast space. So if the definition of "hardcore" is to travel to attend events coast to coast, I think the number of "hardcore" attendees wouldn't exceed the 5000 mark. If the definition of "hardcore" is preferring going to a psy oriented event over anything else, the numbers should have grown since the article. My 2 cents.

i'd like to see this article rewritten for current times.
seems there are double the crews now, which is pretty cool.

also, i'd prefer that hardcore people are the ones throwing the events, and not traveling for it.

Cooper.....

I would suggest to you that the orgs from the different regions of the US play a role in writing up their portion of said article. It isn't possible for any one individual to have the necessary details that best describes the regional scenes across the country. Set a deadline for receiving submissions

Kramtrance......different MachineElf, not Adrian.

ok, I will CURATE the new article.

If you want your area/crew to be included, please PM me some info (like how long you've been around, what styles predominate at your parties, names of artists & orgs etc), or just write a few paragraphs. If nobody writes me about their corner of the scene in the next....lets say....1 week, I'ma write it FOR you.

This is your HOMEWORK, Internet. Get to it.           Quantum Frog / Anomalistic

Very nice idea - I think it would be an interesting resource for all kinds of people and will be worth the effort.
The North America section is one of the few regional sections where people actually go atm, therefore it would be excellent to have a "guide" for the States as a pioneer project. Hopefully other sections will pick up on the idea - sometime in the future we will end up with "The Isratrances Guide to the Multiverse" or something like that.

Good luck!
