many times u can blame the orgeniser - creating a hype over something u dont have is called false representation and one can get sued over it 
but sometimes - the orgeniser cant really be to blame - lets say u wanna make a party and bring GMS. u find the number. u call. Riktam or Banzi answer. they may be stoned out of their heads at this point. u ask if they are available at a certain date and they say yes. so u go and advertise.
u cant know that they already booked themselves for that night somewhere else, u cant be there to get them BOTH on the plane, can u?

If they are stoned then they better stop booking themselves and hire a manager like many artists do.
These kind of artists are tottally inexcusable.

for this reason the paper was invented.
my band doesn't book the date till the paper is signed. it's good and professional for both sides.
1. it gets everything clear.
2. when u have a signed paper people tend to avoid shit like the above, cause they know they might b fucked over it.

the problem with this scene is that many naive people thinks every one is into the good karma and so forth when in reality its just a parralel yet 'underground' version of the RAT race..
This applies in general so it can mean the punters, the promoters(for sure) and the artists(afew).
There are too many people taking advantage of this simple fact!!

GMS were meant to come out for a party that a friend was organising in Asutralia a few years ago. None of them showed up and he lost a lot of $$$ because he had already paid them and people demanded their money back. This killed the production company that he had built up.
Also they were both meant to come out for a party called Summer Dreaming this year. Only Bansi turned up and to be honest played a pretty average set in my mind. Maybe if organisers simply stop booking them altogether they will understand that they can't mess people around anymore. It is simply not good enough and they have a reputation for this sort of behaviour worldwide now, so organisers STOP booking GMS. |
