Hello , well 90% of the incidents where im using an arp, I "build" it myself , more flexibility in placing the notes . Sometimes I also take an already done patch and make it more individual by throwing alot of fx´s on it , and or exporting and cutting up and adding fx´s .
Biggest problem around these "premade" arps are that many ppl tend to use the same sound , alot of released tracks are stuffed with these arps , and yes they may sound cool , but when u listen to the third track with precise same sound , it looses quite some excitment. Just my opinion

I get a vomit-reaction when I hear anymore stock z3ta arps in released music

try albino 3's arp section, with 4 layers you'll get the most awesome arps ever.

arps get really nice if you play a whole chord. most of the time a simple change of the middle note of a 3 note chord will give a nice effect. sure there are so many possibilities that it's almost impossible to give out any tips. just experiment.

another nice tool for chords is energy xt. it has an inbuilt arpeggio pattern sequencer. try it, you'll like it. It offers pattern randomization, so when you create a good flowing pattern, you can create various patterns out of the one, virtually endless variations. it also allows shifting patterns, which will come in handy at some point.

another nice one is sonicbytes era. google it and you know what I mean.

ah yeah, I like to use arps for basslines... yep you've heard right! hehe. What I do is change the speed of the arp from note to note, stop it sometimes before it reaches another octave. This way I get real jumpy stuff in matter of seconds. Needs some experimenting tho. Sure a difference to the joeshmo 16th basslines... oh I forgot, most ppl like them

btw black notes vs white notes... ever tried shifting your half note step 1 note down or up... this way you can make every progression use the first note either a black or white one...           soundcloud.com/epsylohm

I like to use nice complex chords with my arps. My favourites are
- minor 7ths: Notes A C E G in the key of A
- major 7ths: Notes A C# E G# in the key of A
- sometimes even add in 9ths (note B in the key of A).
I often come up with melodies just from playing around with arps in this way.
