Do you consider working hard a necessity to be spiritual? How many of you actually work hard? I've been contemplating a lot on this, cause personally i'm a very chilled out guy. Thankfully i can afford to be that, but not everyone has it easy in life. |

the sun does most of the work for us, in comparison we do nothing..what we call hard work is just a way to put us in the center the world around us...the sun shines strong all day thats hard hard work, the nature works hard..humans dont really work they only pluck the fruits they extract and then they replicate nature and that they call work--hard work--nature just does it doest care doesnt count--doesnt consider--nature and spiritual go hand in hand--like pot in pipe-there are no considerations and no necessaries to be spiritual- either you are or you are not- its simple- either you have had sex with a man or you have not--you can call yourself a bisexual man but that does not change the fact that you had gay sex

I dont think the amount of a persons working ,if it is much,less or nothing has any relationship towards the persons spirituality. |

Well, it does, but not in some kind of “harder working = more spiritual” way.
If you consider yourself a spiritual person, every aspect of your life is viewed through the filter (or the prism, rather) of your spiritual beliefs. Salvation through works vs. salvation by grace has been one of the central arguments in theology for centuries. In the more recent times, witness the difference between Calvinist and charismatic churches in their attitude towards work. “I praise God by building a barn” vs. “I praise God by speaking in tongues” kind of argument.
We came into this world as animals, complete with bones, joints, muscles and the nervous system to set it all in motion. We are defined by our action(s). If we were oaks or pines, we would be “living on prana” – but we are not trees. We move, we act, we do. Where it all comes together with one’s spirituality is the intention of our actions. This is where your actions acquire a meaning aligned (or not) with your spiritual development. Action or non-action in themselves have no relation to spirituality, just like you said. Through intention this connection is established.
P.S. This whole discussion really belongs in the "value of work" thread (the one right next to this one on the list of topics). Can somebody merge them?

not me  , though i see some virtue there , but thankfully i can get by okay ish .. work sux , but I need to .. u read zen and the art of bike fixing something ? , i didn't , but figure its about finding the perfect thing that get u there , in the zone .. etc aand make a buck off of it , like bikes for this guy , like trading the usd and copper futures all day for a friend of mine , like basketball for michael jordan . so ... yea ..watever
