I guess you need to have some kind of radiator on stage in case the temperature drops in the night. Last winter I played in Switzerland and I experienced a lot of technical problems due to the severe cold. For instance, the display on my synthesiser kept freezing and switching presets according to its own taste.            Aural transmissions from the deep forests of Sweden

That second video was amazing! It would probably be hard to dance that cold but would be a nice view! Thanks for the new ideas! hehe

i saw tony unorthodox do the cleverest thing at a cold end-of -autumn party a couple years ago: skiing handwarmers in his pockets. "if your hands are warm you are warm".

That looks like a ton of fun Im so up for it!

I dont think it would be hard to stomp away in the cold. People ski and do all sorts of outdoor activities in the winter. Why not dancing? Its only a problem if your one of those people that likes to stand around and not dance.

I like the idea of not having a heated shelter, or only a small one in case of emergencies. In my experience going back and forth between hot and cold is worse than just being out in the cold properly dressed. If the dancefloor were heated people would just stay inside, or people might go out for cigarettes without their coats and end up staying out longer than they should.

People would really have to dress very, very warm though with lots of layers, long johns, snowpants the works. Snowpants are essential for avoiding getting wet, which can be quite dangerous.

I dont think anyone without snowpants and other appropriate gear for the predicted weather should be allowed at such a party.. With the large number of of people unaccustomed to winter outdoor activities that would probably show up the organizers would have to be total nazis about people dressing properly.

As for equipment maybe just the dj booth could be heated.

The best would be to have an outdoor/indoor type party at a ski shelter. Project the sound outside from a deck/patio and have it wired back to the inside/bar area.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Only question I have is where would people prefer to stay? Warm with chillout in the cabin or cold with madness happening outside. Also it would be the responsibility of people to dress for the elements but there would have to be assistance on my part to help people stay warm.

i agree with psycosmo: is it not obvious to everyone who is suggesting an indoor warming room or an indoor chill space that that would mean that a ton of people would not dance? look at those vids of scando parties: you can actually dance outside in the snow. if you dress appropriately, that means you are not cold. there is no cold we get on the east cost in which you can't make yourself totally toasty... especially if you're dancing.

anyway, i'd be totally down for such an adventure.

yea the finnish nutters would know about snow stomping me thinks.. them and the swiss should be the authorities on the subject..

as a promoter my only concern would be unprepared kids freezing.. or not dressing warm enough etc etc..

you would need round the clock warm chai available and a big fire.. at the least..

a cabin chill space would rock but I think most of the crowd would eventually disappear into a cuddle puddle in there once it hits the chilliest point of the night..

still I'd love to see pics if you pull it off.. I know the kids around here seem to lose their juice around october at the latest and dont get it back until april or may..

but we arent as hardcore as some scenes = ]           .:.vaxination.:.

extra prep. might be needed for equipment purposes, but temp. and weather can nvr stop stompers!
ive seen orgz put together the most craziest outdoor scenes, ans evn in rain mud was a friendly experience, the bitter cold was subsided by bon fires and chai. also as for my opinion if the music selection does its job, i dont think anyone would be cold!

the south gets cold too.. just not as wet = ]

no snow.. still pretty damn cold at night... but not compared to you northern folks I guess

still there is always the west coast for a winter open air.. though does winter count if its warm enough to wear a t shirt?           .:.vaxination.:.

Could be a lot of fun but you have to worry about safety and comfort, especially since I presume you'd be in a remote area. If you want to keep it going for a while I think you will def need a warm shelter so people can take a break from the cold, for a reliable power source and also for the bathrooms (especially the womens' bathroom). Make sure you salt any icy areas. You also may need to find a plow for parking and in case of any weather changes. Maybe you can find a vendor to sell hats or something.
Also does anyone know how the bare trees and snow will affect the sound?
Enjoy the beats by the fire!
