How much parties are in NYC?
Every weekend?
I am very interested in NYC

For me it's the BEST place in the world. I could go visit anywhere for a long time of period, but NYC is home, it's the best of the bests to live.
So I guess I'm one of those who LOVE NY!
And yeah, we do have parties almost every week end. I don't know, but I've been told, if you keep on dancing you won't grow old. |

lived in nyc all my life. Still do. Parties go on all day and night..you have the world (in every sense of the way) right there at your doorstep -- Music, food, clothes, people , cultures and color make up this city. Come and visit.. !! |

I find the psytrance "scene" here in the New York City area to be a small close-knit community. Psytrance is very underground here, most New Yorkers have never heard psytrance, you never hear any psytrance (or electronic music) on the radio, and many people in the rave scene have never heard psytrance either. I count my blessings, that I can go to a psytrance party here, and know everyone on the dancefloor. I also find that the psytrance scene here is the most diverse in the world, you will meet people of all religons, races, creeds, classes, ages, and philosophies at a New York City psytrance party. |

NYC is going to crap. Just wait till they get that stupid stadium and a few more of their plans to commercialize and gentrify this town and pretty soon we'll be like so many other bland, featureless american cities. We're already well on they way. Did you know that till the 70's or so NO chain stores were allowed into the city? Thats right there was no McDondalds, No RadioShack, no Gap, no CVS, no RiteAide, no Kmart. Now we have one of each of those goddamned stores every few blocks. Unless something really radical happens I dont see the trend reversing. Anyway Im going off. I hope im wrong tho. |

and thats relevent to trance because part of the genrification efforts involve a push for new noise controls to further restrict dance clubs and other activities that make New York be New York. |

true there is movement in that direction but as long as nyc has the amount of immigrants that it does coming in, it will retain the vitality, uniqueness, and over arching excitement that few other cities enjoy. YEs maybe starbucks and kmart have put a few stores out of business but there are still free bridge parties clandestine drum circles in central park, tiny houses in brooklyn where ecuadorean families serve fresh seviche for 2 dollars a carton etc. NYC is still a center of culture with very few competitors in the world. Come visit, come party with us, it isnt perfect but it sure as hell is invigorating.

There are a lot of underground psytrance parties happening in the New York area. I believe we should do what the rave scene did a few years ago, and start throwing parties in the New York/New Jersey suburbs. I know that there are plenty of clubs, social centers, roller skating rinks etc. out in westchester, long island, and Newark that tolerate throwing rave parties, I am sure that they would prefer to have a well behaved psytrance party over a rave party any day.
I believe that we need to start growing the psytrance scene. Many New York ravers I have met have never heard psytrance in their life, I think it would be great to market a psytrance party towards that scene. I also find that a lot of hip-hop heads listen to psytrance... so that could be another niche market.
You have to build a community first. |
