im completely in favour of software m8,but,like i said there is some stuff that cant be beaten by software YET(not considering TDM plugs)... and im not talking about the analogue to digital debate,im talking in dedicated DSP chips !!

Your music will sound as good as the weakest link in your studio chain permits:

synth - mixer - monitors - listening environment - your ears and experience

IMO the weakest link is often not the use of soft- or hardware synths, but other factors.

In my experience it's generally not the mixer, the monitors or the listening environment either.

Yep ! But i keep on hoping it's something i can buy

£40 an hour could be a mix engineer's fee.

I was more thinking along the lines of production tuition but if there's anyone willing to pay me £40 p/h to mix their tune I'd be up for that too           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Well TDM is software...Yes it is!!But runs in dedicated DSP (mixfarm cards),considering this software is also considering my Virus TI software(runs on software and dedicated DSP Chips and Mobo)!!!

Hmmm examples....

In my own studio experience i can give you my new TC D-two and TC fireworx,D-two is a unique piece of equipment wich i have been waiting to be released for my powercore as a plugin(impossible due to memory issues with the Poco)!!Also the fireworx has some gr8 Fx´s combo´s exquisite internal architecture, capable of mouth watering FX

Then you have the Hardware Compressor field,i have the 1176LN,pultec and LA2A from Uad-1 card wich are also sold in TDM protocol,i´ve never listened to the real deal of any of these, but considering the price tag,i assume they must be better than the software cousins !!
IMO we will have to wait a few more years to get in a pro-recording studio and see just a computer like a multi task tool !!!

he he!!

Seems like everything is in the know-how...

Most hardware synths and FX nowadays are virtual inside anyway!!

But hardware is more user friendly IMO           V/A Floating Mirror - OUT NOW - with Celles, Midimal, Electrypnose, Melodix, Troll Scientists, Yab Yum, Gaspard, Ajja, Cradle of Beats! Info on

imo software has bad workflow.
and workflow is fucking important for transfering creativity into direkt output.

Try to work with Nord Modular then. You'll go back to VST in seconds.

yes but the sounds are just so much more crisp I have gotten many great sounds out of software and for wierdness I prefer it but for sweeps and griity saws etc. hardware is just better quality. its just a preference you dont need it to make good tracks but if you like it use it.
