wow. very high quality stuff. please, post it when you finish it. really curious to know where you are going to take it.

the only constructive criticism i can give is the open hat that comes in around 1 min is a bit too loud and/or harsh for my tastes. and the break at 1:23 sounded a little weird.

but other than that, everything already sounds very polished.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

Good feedback man thanks, I will think about that hihat - I don't have studio monitors, I use a hi-fi system and it's quite toppy. So I will test on some different speakers when I mixdown next time

Also the break - I just had the idea of how to change it, so thanks!           http://www.soundcloud.com/architektnz

This really is an awesome track so far. Your mix sounds quite professional, as well you've got some quite great sounds in there. As far as I'm concerned, the part where the open hat starts playing is actually quite good, I like the hat's crisp sound.
I'm excited about how it'll go on

i guess i should've mentioned that it's my complain for a lot of commercially released tracks too, so you should probably take it with a grain of salt. just a matter of taste.

if you've been producing for less than 2 years and you don't even have monitors, it's really impressive the kind of results you are getting. congrats, man.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

I'm using Cubase, and I attempt mastering using built in plugins on logic.

Thanks mate! Yeah producing for 2 years but before that I was doing this for about 10 years now:

The monitors I use I picked up cheap ($350USD for both) from a random audio shop - they were designed for hearing tests haha! They're amazing for high freq but don't produce a very flat response, and almost no low mid - but I love them so I can't complain I have a velodyne sub for that from the same audio shop for around $250USD. Cheap as chips

haha. nice. just saw these guys about 5 months ago. i still think they should be an instrumental band, as all the layers and little things that Bulb does is really just perfect without vocals. i saw that you were teaching guitar and were into progressive metal on your soundcloud and was going to ask you what kind of prog metal. i guess that sort of answers my question. do you post on sevenstring.org at all?           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

You've got a really groovy style my friend, also the breaks on the track are well placed to give some continuity,
