Well what an experience! Samothraki really is a magical island and an amazing location of a festival. We were out there for 3 weeks, most of our time spent designing and creating the decoration for the chill-out area. 6 of us worked for 12-16 hours a day for 10 days making over 50 butterflies, plus 8 stained-glass effect butterflies including the 2 metre butterfly at the back of the chill stage. By the time the festival started we had pretty much finished, and we were pretty happy with what we had made.

After that everything was progressing nicely and we all were having a great time at the festival.. until the last day.. when our camp was raided. Members of our crew were dragged out of their tents as they slept, were searched and had the contents of the tent and bags scattered all over the place. bah.. nothing came of it.. and the police grunted off. gits. What happened later that day and the next morning left us feeling rather sick. We had been told that the after party would be taking place in the chillout and were asked if we minding leaving our decorations up for it. Of course we agreed! then came the sick bit.. whilst we were all asleep and the chillout stage was winding up, various festival goers decided to start stealing our decor!!! Almost all of the butterflies were stolen, backdrops ripped down from the trees, flowers and vines taken from the stage and inflatables cut down. Bah loads of stuff nicked...

We really want to try and track some of it down, we can't afford to loose our work, so please keep your eyes open.

We are putting together a gallery of our chillout decor on our website.. you can see it here http://www.tribeoffrog.com/gallery/samothraki2003

Our camera broke so we don't have any photos of our own. All these photos are ones we have found online. If you have any photos please get in touch.. email jason@tribeoffrog.com

We also really want to track down this backdrop.. Its of a sunset over a mangrove with birds flying across, crocodiles in the water and the undergrowth either side. Its rather large and unfortunately we don't have any complete photos of it. But this link will give you an idea of what it was like

Please help if you can. If you have something please give it back to us.

i agree the decor was beyond outstanding and really made that space an indelible memory. really sorry to hear about your loss. if i see even the slightest glimpse of any missing part i shall jump on them and try not to duff up any unfortunates in the immediate proximity. hope you find your stuff. lots of love and inspired support xxx           In the depth of my soul there is a wordless song.

Jason i'm so sorry to hear about that.
This is the ugly things in the trance scean,
when ppl are acting like animales,(sorry animales are more nices then ppl).
I thogt that ppl in the trance scean supposed to be above all this ,but its not and its a shame coz this is the things that prevents us to do the trance scean professional and butyful.

Jason keep on a good spirit ,
and i will keep my eyes open.

All these brutal actions were made by people who dodnt belong to the scene...The words and the meaning of peace ,unity and respect are unknown to them...
All this brings to the surface a major problem...the events have become too commersial. In the first samothraki fest (solaluna)I remember we didnt even lock our tends!Everything was pure ,the feeling ,the trust between the ppl.
All the magic is lost now...

Hope to find your belongings everybody but i think its rather hard...Probably the butterflys are the deco on the rooms of the wonna be trancers by now....

Peace           I am the FUNK!
