Apogee converters are very appreciated in the digital audio 'world'... Thus the price is much bigger.
Symphony esspecially.
If they were the same price then maybe your case was solid

yes trip theire not!!!
but;!theire both designed for major recording purposes( wich is what im planning to do!)and i dont think it would be really necessary to spend all that money on the symphony ( how much is it again?)...so..i guess im going on the fireface 800--Boom sonic

I would go for the Apogee if I had the extra money, but if it comes to value/money, then the fireface800(Or even just 400, it's got better converters than it's bigger brother, but only usable if you need to record stuff and transport many things)...

No I haven't tested it but I've seen tests done by professional audioengineers confirming that RME is the best "bang for the buck" compared to apogee, but in the end the apogee sounds better.

This is so funny. Have any of you guys any idea of what the apogee symphony is? Its a PCI card with NO analog i/o's. Not a converter. It is meant to work together with apogee converters like the Rosetta 800. So you cannot compare Symphony with the Fireface 800.
I bet you meant Apogee Ensemble?
I dont think Apogees converters are better. Maybe differet sounding, yes. Actually someone made a test not long ago recording a track with Rosetta 800 converters and the same track with Fireface 800. It was a blind test so noone knew wich was the Apogee and wich was the RME. Alot more people prefered the RME. Including me. |

I must admit that you're right, AvS.
I meant the Rosetta or Ensemble, don't know, the 1u rack silver thingie with blue lights on it and stuff, hehe..
Doesn't really matter, as it sounds like Akousma has made the right decision.
