You do it the same way as any other MIDI controller... click the "MIDI" button and re-assign the faders you wish to re-assign.

So I'm guessing you tried that already and it didn't work? You re-assigned, paged over, and the channels still move?
I'm guessing you'd have to reassign everything in those channels to the appropriate channels on the APC (faders, arm/solo buttons, the works). That might stay. I'm not sure what to do about the clip matrix buttons yet, but I'll be playing around with it when I get mine for sure!
I'm still waiting for my APC, so I'm just making educated guesses here...
At any rate, if you have patience, I'm guessing when Max For Live comes out, doing what you mean will probably be very easy. It seems like it could just be a small scripting issue where you could just have the APC completely ignore those two channels and page ch. 3-8 over. Of course, this may also lead to scenarios if you page too far in one direction where the APC channels would be something like... 1-2-1-2-3-4-5-6 which might end up being bad too. An interesting idea you have there. have you posted on the Ableton forums?

i did, and they dont get it
im guessing it doesnt exist.
i want to have full control over my bassline and kick at all times
even if the red box is scrolled all the way to the right, i want to have the APC40 channel 1 and 2 to always correspond to tracks 1 and 2 (which are usually my kick (track1) and bassline (track2).
so in live performance, i can always have track 1 and 2 controls on the first 2 tracks. so i can mute the bassline and kick whenever i feel like it and quickly.
if it seriously doesnt exist and the max for live is gonna fuck it up probably then they have t have this selection in later ableton live updates.
