hello,
just wondering if someone could enlighten me on my problems. now i understand the jp has only two midi channel options.
basically what im trying to do is have say a lead in channel one (upper) and say a pad or a similar lead with lower (channel 2).
however when i try to change a patch for upper, the lower patch is changing too, i want this one to stay. i pretty much want to use upper and lower channels apart from each other as if they were two seperate channels.
ive tried dual mode and split mode and changing from performance to patch select, but nothing works. i have my synth connected to a midi sport 4x4 with usb midi controller. how can i do this?
also is there a way to assign volume changes to velocity. i can assign everything else bar volume, which seems to me the most important option?
cheers.

hi orbit
maybe when changing the patch on the first channel, it sends a program change which is sent back to the jp by your sequencer.
just an idea |

just set the different parts to have different midi channels. it's somewhere in the settting pages. edit + something for each lower and upper part. And you have to be in the dual mode to be able to play both parts invidually.
And of course don't send program changes in omni midi channel
I sold my jp so i'm sorry i can't help you further. Your problem is solvable, though. |

You have to use the patch gain knob for setting velocity to volume. It's just above the amp evelope section and next to the patch pan/amp lfo depth knob.
The main volume knob next to the headphone jack effects both the upper and lower part (both patches in your sequencer) the patch gain knob effects upper and lowers parts seperatly - it's also the one that you would control via MIDI. |
