guys offtopic but i never could find the answer, the other synth omnisphere have all the trilian synths wavforms filters and same envelops? + it can load samples ? it s like trilian on stereoid ? or you need to buy both to take advantage of trilian sounds in omnisphere?(i think i read somewhere it s possible to use trilian presets in omnisphere so i guess they use same engine ,filters envelop and all that)
|
|
yeah they use the same engine ( Steam) . One could basically run the other one's presets, I guess.
|
|
then buying omnisphere means no need to buy any of the other spectra synths???
  I want a spare brain.... or 2. |

Synth engine is awesome in Omni imo. Very intuitive layout. I really appreciate the way the synth waveforms work...
you have two "SawSquares", a triangle, a sine and a noise option...then you have 3 sliders that modulate the shape, symmetry, and hard sync of the waveform..and it shows you what the waveform looks like! very cool imo.
Also I love the waveshaping and Harmonia/Unison/Grain options....there is ring mod and FM too but I never get anything good out of either. Probably more to do with me than the software, though I do think that the FM is pretty shit and not very precise
Also, I just fuckin love the modulation. It's so awesome to just right click on a parameter that you want to modulate and then a list of pretty much everything pops up. The LFO modulation is especially great...
Ever go to modulate something like filter cutoff with LFO but you don't want the LFO to go all the way up or all the way down the cutoff, but just do its LFO thing on a defined spectrum of the cutoff/parameter? Omni does this very, very well.
It's pretty much awesome all the way around...especially when you layer your custom built synth patch with some crazily-recorded psychoacoustic sample Lot's of people rag on Spectrasonics stuff as just a preset machine for noobs but....they had teams of engineers going all over the world recording samples of stuff with great equipment....you don't even have to touch the presets (though lots are amazing) to be amazed by Omni.

Yup Omnisphere rocks.
You need to own Omnisphetre and Trillian to access Trillians patches from Omnisphere.
The live and stack functions in Omnisphere are mind blowing also and the arp is extremely powerful too

I made a few basslines with trillian. Well yes it's sounds good but donno I like tweaking my presets with Sylenth or Massive the result is more that what I need. And a fat minus point for Trillian is that you have no possibility to automate the VST

not true. If you right click on a parameter and select "enable host automation" you can automate within your DAW. For example, (in ableton) you right click on the filter cutoff, select enable host automation.
Then click on the configure button in the bottom left hand corner (instrument/effects strip) and then click on the filter cutoff. Now you can automate that parameter or group it to a macro just like anything else
Not sure how it works in other DAWs.

Got the demo of omnisphere, but cant seem to find the osc retrigger button in synth mode.
Need the wave to start at same point each note, now it doesnt.
Cant seem to find it in the manual under osc chapter...
Bit offtopic but i think it also goes for trillian?
thanks |
