i've installed it on my girlfriend's PC so that i can sketch out ideas without starting up my studio machine...
looks pretty cool so far. but yeah, vst/i implementation is silly. sound quality seems pretty damn good tho! |

i did a session with some friends and they want it too now the workflow is not as smooth as cubase (moving clips, piano roll...)i need to configure a bit everything better but all is tweakable in this sequencer, just you need time to configure it as you like. |

Reaper is a cool tool. Just as good as Acid, and more cheaper.
But I use it only when I'm playing arround, making experimental tracks with samples. Don't like to use vst on it. It cuts out a bit the inspiration.
One day I'll try to sample the sounds of a track build on FL and arrange them on Reaper. I think it works better then the FL playlist

Resurrecting this thread because REAPER IS FUCKING AWESOME!
I've been an Ableton Acolyte for a couple years now, and thought that it was the cat's meow...but I kind of wished that I could customize more in Ableton without learning a programming language, I hated how bulky it was and how slow it was to load huge projects...and it crashes occasionally. Not often, but it does. Also, I really wanted nice automation curves...
and lo and behold, Reaper has all of that and so much more, I got Groove 3's Reaper Explained and my jaw is dropping every couple minutes...
"wow that's cool!"
"that's such a good idea...."
"I could do some really trippy shit with that..."
I'm learning the interface right now as I'm in the process of moving and all my gear is in boxes, but I can easily see this completely overtaking live in the studio, though I would still use live for performance.
The only thing I might miss from Ableton would be the ability to freeze+flatten a drum rack that has its own internal sends, the simplicity of the reverb/delays ... but then again I could always rewire Ableton into Reaper for that if I really wanted to.
Plus it's $60, and more and more I would prefer to have legit software.

yeah it s great i m back using it a little since version 4 but i miss a good looking interface ...(i can t stand the bars on top lol it s there since version 1 and look so ugly )
one have to become geeky to learn it in depth compared to daw like cubase imo but there is so much fonctions and settings .
btw i m not sure about the liscence ? i m in demo mode and i think after the trial (maybe it s already over ) there is just a nag screen asking you to buy it but you may still be able to use it if you don t mind the nag screen and the waiting time . (not sure about all this)
what fonctions make you want to move to reaper btw will? |
