So was thinkin of pickin up my first hardware synth....cant really be arsed with virtual analog stuff....want the real deal...

So anyone have any experience with this one? Specifically how are the envelopes??? Nice fast and snappy???

Was looking between this one and the much more modern moog little phatty....           http://soundcloud.com/seer

Its not going to be easy finding a mint condition JP6. I use JP8 sampler instruments a lot in my tunes, but that is a bit different sounding as the Jupiter 8 was a descrete circuits synth, whereas the JP6 (if I remember correctly) used CEM VCO and VCA.
IF you find a good one, grab it!

must cost a fortune due to the analogue "fever" of the last years, good luck

well ive found one in pretty mint condition thats been professionally serviced and had its midi capabilities upgraded makin it easy to integrate into a digital workspace....costs about as much as a virus TI...

anyway just wondering if anyone in the psytrance circle has had some experience with these...and what they thought....

online reviews are pretty good but not very detailed...

Is not nearly as flexible, but sounds 100 times better, imho always.

Yeah, I mean synths with a zillion of modulation sources and intuitive modulation matrixes are good, but when it comes down to raw sound, you can't go wrong with the JP6. Great sounding VCOs and the high pass filter is off the hook!

as a first hardware synth I'd maybe consider a cheaper one. especially one with an up to date midi or usb implementation. if you wanna stay in the higher price range maybe something like andromeda or voyager.

if the jupiter 6 has the europa upgrade the price (for a virus ti2) should be ok. without the upgrade it's a little bit pricy.

nope...got a moog voyager old school and oberheim sem instead as the jp6 europa was turning a bit expensive with shipping and stuff...and for a true happy ending my music partner came across a jp8 for a real killa price...so now ive got access to to one whenever i need

But when i can afford a nice poly the jp6 is def on the top of my list...

i am super happy with the new sem....got a very different character to the moog...its a bit dirtier, buzzier and brighter sounding...wheras the moog is well creamy...i have the cv version (no midi) so i can control it with the moog (like in the above video) or motu's volta...the cv version is awesome because you have alot of flexibility with the sound as compared to the midi version...you can do all sorts of crazy fm modulation with this....the filter is just fantastic....as you turn the resonance up it just gets louder n louder unlike other analogs where the oscillators level drops as you turn up the reso....Turn up that reso...patch an osc to modulate the filter and hear it scream!! i use mine for basses, leads, arps, fx....all the usual stuff a mono synth excels at...
