ive just tried routing LFO to Filter decay and sustain. Great results using a The ramp and finding the perfect rate and phase shuffle. Great!
if you can tune the Lfo rate to your Bassline in my case B1 even better, shuffle through the phase to find the open envelope and bang! u got a groovy Line.

I think its not a very common thing but i know alot of creative artists do these things, also its probably more usual with such movements in the bass in both DnB and dubstep... But i think it fits perfect for Psytrance..
Ones i did something like this and it added a very good movement, for great tension between 1 and second bar

Going to experiment more with it also... thanks for heads up

try it with a step sequencer instead of LFO or draw in the automation for it

insteed of using velocity on the volume if you use it for something esle for example and don t have lot of routing on the synth you could try volume automation ,i do it more and more these day , i haven t found a vst3 sidechain compressor that i like yet and i m too lazy to set a comp the old way ,i loop 1/4 of a bar and drop 3 automation points copy/paste and voila, it can be better than a compressor cause they can distort with fast setting when compressiong low freq ( the waveform cylces are so long,i think it s 10 ms at 100 hz ,it make compressors act weird and distort with fast setting , it s something like that ...)

It can be nice to route lfo to pitch on bass, but just with a very low value. Will sound like analog "drift" of the oscillators

Also lfo on cutoff can be cool...           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

automating the filter envelope amount can add some real dynamic quality as well...

Haha, I basicly automated the pitch on most elements in that track... not an lfo, but drawn in in Soundforge :=)           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet
