as jonathan wrote,
all the music gener's is a metter of technique..
you can learn sound , synthesis , sequencer etc.. but the technique of the produceing makes it the specific gener of music you want...           ================
S.D6 & Iron Madness- Dinak Production - Acidance Rec.
S.D6 Vs. Iron Madness- Blues Mystery - Doof Rec. & Yellow Sunshine Explosions rec.

If you're on Cubase SX i would check the ASK Video tutorial dvd's. Those will help you work with your sequncer really fast.

But if you want to learn how to produce great sounding tracks i wouldn't be afraid of reading books about composing or engineering.

In my humble opinion: the day they start teaching psytrance in schools will be the day that psytrance died. Same with jazz or classical music. No new style has ever come out of music-schools, just dogma's about how to produce styles that are already dead.

I know how to learn psychedelic! experiment with psychedelic drugs

psy is just a name! the music doesnt have to reflect it at all... but to me psy is a journey, its innovative and openminded... not formulatic at all(with this i mean every track should sound different) but of course almost everything has a formula... be it complex or simple

i say you can make psychedelic music right now!
just use your mind and get freaky!

you just need to start doing it! you wont grasp anything if you dont make it your own knowledge! then you can learn better from others....

i know the post was kinda vague and easily misenterpereted i more meant i have done it myself thus far absolutely nobody else has ever helped me (aside from isratrancers) ive learned programs can make decent stuff but have no idea how to do all of the technical tricks to make it sound pro i know there is certain technical tricks that are personal to psy trance i know its just a label and i have a good grasp on the essence of a psychedelic experience. I just dont know book stuff you know the tedious side my mind is there my heart and ears too. im just lacking tech knowledge anyone know where to look for that ??

Facehead, the better thing to do is:
1. Choose those producers you like and pick up some tracks from them (about 5) - listen and understand the structure of those tracks, that's, how they are arranged in time sequence.
In http://www.computermusic.co.uk/pdf/tutorials/trance.pdf
You will find some interesting picture about the arrangement (THE ANATOMY OF A TRANCE TRACK page) - Remember, that's for euro/uplift/progressive trance, but it can be extended to psy as well (be creative!)...
That picture will help you to understand the whole structure of a song.
Another interesting help: http://www.recess.co.uk/structure.html
http://www.recess.co.uk/Ajare.html (Structure of Ajare song from Way Out West)
The most important and simple thing about the structure is after 8 bars (or 16 bars)there will be some change happening.

2. You can use http://www.trance-midi.tk for downloading tons of euro/progressive/hard trance midi files and understand the main melody/chords or write arpeggios.

3. Generally, any track can be described using the following ingredients: kickloop, percussion loop (using shakers, tablas, tambourine etc.), bassline (intro, main etc.), evolving pad (eventually atmospheric), background percolating lead synth, plucked arpeggio, main lead synth melody (eventually with arpeggios in some parts), some pleasant noise background (with panning, delay, phaser etc.) and voices samples (overused indian/arabic/movies/vocodized or make something new, anyway...). You should pick up
some sample (or samples) from above and use a wave sequencer. So, you will be ready to understand how to create some remix (eventually you can apply effects on them and move the order of elements etc.). There are producers that allow you download some remix pack from website and remix your song (Talamasca, Nine Inch Nails, Sasha for example).

4. After this movement, you can learn about more deep subjects about production like mixing properly the instruments on the final mix (how to use the sidechain compression for pumping bass, gating for pads, equalization, reverb/delay, panning instruments etc.).

5. There aren't a perfect recipe ("the silver bullet for computing") for making psytrance or even any kind of trance, but some guidelines. This forum has a lot of them. I learned a lot from this forum, there are incredible guys (Colin OOOD, nectarios, tsabeat, psybox etc.) sharing knowledge here.
