hey guys, this is manish from india, i am a trained dj, djing since past 3 years, but now i wanna get into music production, so i am planning to come to manchester to study music technology from MANCHESTER MIDI SCHOOL.

i'll be coming some time next year, for abt 10-12 months

i need to know:
1) cost of living in and around the city centre, my budget being not more than 50 pounds per week.
2) is it easy to find work for students, i e work 6-7 hours everyday, also would that include work on sundays.
3) how much do u think would be the expenses per week on social life, not very extravagant, but just have a good time.
4) FINALLY, if anybody is willing to rent out accomodation, within my budget as mentioned above, please give details about the accomodation too.
i'll be waiting for ure replies
cheers

Try putting your questions on a thread at www.psy-forum.co.uk you might get more answers there....I hope £50 per week isn't your total weekly budget for food and rent !!!!

There is lots of student accomodation in and around the city centre. However being a foreign student I don't know whether you will be subsidised.
You will need more money than £50 week, so you will have to find part time work. There are plenty of bars, shops and supermarkets where you could subsidise your student income.
Difficult to say social life, but its usually ~£10 meal out, ~£2 for a beer, and ~£5 for entry to a club.
I have friends who would be able to give you accomodation, but it would be in a non-student part of town, so I would only take it as a last resort. PM if you want more information.

Hi poncho... as u mentioned u are paying 270 pounds/ month (individual).. that would mean u are paying 60 pounds approx /week ???(individually)

I intend to attend Manchester Midi school for a diploma in music production, which is located in the city centre... so can i find plc (shared etc) in or around city centre in a good student locality (with in 45- 60 pounds, inclusive of utility bills)

Also legally i am allowed to work only 20 hrs per week, but can i work more than that at one job .. or have two part time jobs

let me know man... as the info u all provide would help me allot..

thnx
