Although lo-fi is not really used in psytrance as it is in hiphop or DnB i think this will be a good soundsource for psytrance... Only problem if u sample is that u can't automate the synth anymore... Only the sampler and the effects u put on it... And automation is very important in psytrance... Other then that i think it will be great.. Psytrance uses more digital synths then analogue synths (goatrance was very analogue contrary to psytrance) and this one - although 8bit - is a digital synth, and a good sounding one to boot... And a low bitdepth doesn't mean it sounds bad in those machines Otherwise they wouldn't have built it...

i think its because australia is so small (population wise) there wasn't a lot of demand for it, and it was hard to market overseas. did fairlight go bust in the end?

from my understanding a little after the fairlight were in the market emu came out with they're
sampler which were more at reach for musicians...
the fairlight was a dream machine back in those days...

At fregle: i could manipulate the sounds i got a hartmann neuron synth which incase you didn't know is a synth that deals with resynthesis.. so as u see im actually good to go with the samples hehe
i'll just create a model and walla i got fairlight taken to the extreme with the hartmann neuron sound engine.. chek it out, they went out of business bout a year ago but man that machine is nasty... and nothing else out there like it. it was designed ground up for surround sound applications. so im hoping marrying the fairlight classic synth soundset to the neurons sound manipulatin engine i'll get sounds that would have been impossible with the fairlight but still that pen that the fairlight had is so cool hehe peace
