I really want to do this at some point in my life. I think i'd feel that some goal from my adolescence would be fulfilled to have some of my original tunes on vinyl. I think it will have to wait a few years until I have bigger fanbase though, so i can at least break even on the venture.
So yeah, anyone ever done it? Did you encounter any unexpected bumps in the road during the process? how many minutes of music did you do on each side? is there much of a difference between mastering for digital and mastering for vinyl? How much did you sell them for?
just curious.

yes, the first in 1993.
you will get your first few test copies - whre you can report errors or check if everything is ok before the whole edition will be pressed.
Once a friend of mine had a way too fast tempo on vinyl - on the test pressings - in the end of coures all went well.
..how much price..it dependsif you think you can sell it all fast and it might even be for a multiple price on other platforms or if maybe you are new&unknown and have no fans and can have problems with selling the edition at all. Its up to you what price you want for your work if you are your own label. Otherwise watch exactly what conditions your singning, copy it and don't loose it.

I was releasing records (breakbeat though, not trance) in early to mid 00s. Some went to no1 in Mixmag and DJmag and I got most of my cash for my first studio from record sales (I made about 2000GBP from only one single, to give you an idea).
Mastering is a whole different ball game. You can't have wide stereo low frequencies as they throw the needle off the record. Most of my records where mastered at Heathmans in London, some in Transition. Proper mastering suites where people like Underworld got their albums mastered.
They where selling for 6-7GBP at the time. Singles, with one track per side, below 7:30 minutes to gut the record at 45rpm and have a louder output.
They where getting pressed at batches of 2000 pieces in a factory in eastern europe.
