Dear Friends and Family:

Has anyone ever lost all the music they ever owned? I have. For the past 10 years I have been collecting EDM of every kind, from jungle to trance, from house to hardcore. I have performed at countless parties, bringing smiles to party goers across the US and abroad. Until last week. My worst fear came true, my Terabyte hard drive, where I store all my music has crashed. I have tried to recover the data but am told the drive is a total loss. I need your help. Dj'ing is a passion of mine but also a source of income. I need to replace my hard drive and of course, hopefully, the music that was on it through music purchasing websites. I am asking for donations to help recover my lost hardware and music. If you feel like you can contribute to my cause, please send donations to my paypal account via my email below:

djbeesay@gmail.com

thanks in advance to anyone who is kind enough to feel my pain and contribute to my cause. Dj BeEsay

This is why you don't put all your eggs in one basket. Hard drives are non-reliable by nature; but they are the best thing still for large capacity personal storage. The solution is to keep AT LEAST 2 separate drives with ALL of your data backed up regularly (or even better, mirrored). This way, if one dies you have the other. If you're paranoid then you might want to consider a 3rd off site backup. Take this as a learning experience.

We mean you all the best, but I think coming onto a forum asking for money because your hard drive crashed isn't going to yield you a whole lot of help. Take this as you paying a VERY LARGE price for a lesson that we all need to learn at some point.

As for buying music, well with few exceptions I say never look back to the old, and keep your current collection current.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

If you have kept all the copies of payments you made (like email receipts if digital) then maybe take this case to the place you bought them and ask for a new download code.

I'd say the same, rebuild a current collection from Ektoplazm which has a huge amount of stuff for free, and when you have the money buy what you can.

I lost 15,000 CDs from a storage facility a few weeks back (plenty of which I will never get back as they aren't even available as digital) but at least I'd been smart enough to pay for insurance & got a big fat payment (they valued them at $15US a CD).

You can generally do that with hard copies, no luck for insuring digital which is why I don't like digital only.
